by Lourie Vandertuig on This place is awesome! My girlfriend and I finally checked it out after seeing it open a while ago. We really loved it. Their specialty rolls were unique and delicious (shaggy dog is the only one we can remember right now). The service was excellent and the ambiance is just what you go for in a sushi place that is nice but not over-the-top loud or swanky. The best part is the price - it is way more affordable than Uchi or Uchiko (and the food is better here too in our opinion). We will definitely be back here soon!

The place is absolutely huge, especially for san francisco, with a large main floor, 2nd floor seating open in the middle, and then another large roof deck. Mediterranean tapas are the main food offerings with good mixed drinks as well. The restaurant transitions into a lounge-club atmosphere around 10-11ish and starts to charge a cover. It's also home to an upscale hostel - although I haven't tried it out myself. Great place for groups to get together, share plates of food, and enjoy the roof deck when the weather is warm. The clubby atmosphere later on isn't quite my scene (especially since they start playing music too loud to talk to friends), but still a good choice for drinks before 10:30ish.

I rolled in with some important people and I always enjoy when the doormen kiss you and act like they know you because they assume they SHOULD know you b/c of who you are with. It makes me feel important and it's fun to pretend. If I wasn't out with my power players, I would probably hate this place big time. Typical all who you know. We were ushered inside, upstairs, given bottles of champagne. I had to go to the bathroom -- my friend whispered to a bouncer who immediately ushered me past the peons waiting in line. This would get a star if it was just me drunkenly ending up here at 3am, but I drunkenly ended up with some hotshot friends and it's not so bad. But please note -- the place was packed with bridge and tunnel acting like they were "balling" -- normally not my idea of a fun time.
