Impromptu date night? What's nearby on ScoutMob? One Midtown Kitchen! It had been too long so my date and I drove the few miles and had a lovely dinner. You'll know you've arrived when you see the glowing purple wall of lights just off Monroe by the park. Started with mussels and razor clams. Indecisive on this one as the mussels/broth/bread were very tasty, but the razor clams were a tad chewy. Kudos to them for actually having razor clams on the menu though. Don't see those too often. In general their menu is more more inventive than a lot of places. Your foodie friends will love it (sweetbreads, pork belly, monkfish, etc etc). I had the nonkfish entree and it was perfection. The taste and texture is about as close to lobster as fish can get. The sweet potatoes and black radish complemented the dish very nicely. If this is on the menu and you enjoy fish, this entree is a must order. My gf had the hanger steak which is usually poor-man's steak, but her's was nicely cooked over about a pound a fries. Like a ridiculous amount of fries, which were good so who cares. Waiter-dude was a tad spastic, but overall there when we needed him. Trendy decor with lots of beautiful people and lots of drunk birthday parties makes for a fun and raucous atmosphere. NOT the place for a first date.

Unless you're from out of town and want to see what the "Hollywood" scene is about (you'll be disappointed if you have ever been anywhere signficant in the world) then pass on this sh1te h0le. Typical Hollywood Scene: If H.Wood was half as cool as it's staff thinks they are, it would be the funnest  place in the world.  A line outside for men to wait in, not because the place is too full, but because they want to present an image of being exclusive. It's not worth the cover, same music you hear at every other "club" that caterers to the lowest common denominator and the drink prices are unbelievably outrageous. It's filled with transplants from elsewhere, all telling bu11$h!t stories about their connections to the entertainment biz. It's cramped, sweaty and there is a lot of sniffing noises coming out of the bathroom stalls. Like I said, if you're from out of town and want to experience Hollywood this place might be for you.....
