Rusty Spur Scottsdale, Arizona bar is the oldest cowboy saloon in Arizona. What was once the Bank of Scottsdale, now is an authentic old western saloon.
by Claire P. on Eh. Honestly, I was disappointed by this place. Maybe my expectations were high. Coming from the kink scene down in LA, I figured that any SF venue would be amazing, being in the capital of leather and all. I went to one of the BENT parties. The venue itself is nice, kind of cozy, lots of couches, definitely not a forbidding and scary dungeon. What I disliked was the cliquishness of the people. I went as a guest of one of the DJs that night, and he was kind enough to introduce me to a few people. I tried introducing myself to folks as well, but they would usually shake my hand, nod and walk back to their group of choice. Very little mixing and mingling. I spent most of the night sipping water and watching. Also, in the queerest city in the world, WHY did 95% of the scenes involve male Dominant/female sub dynamics only? Come on, guys. SO LAME. The only girl-on-girl play going on was a spanking scene surrounded by a circle of leering men. This place needs to Queer. It. Up. If I go back, it'll be for one of the Transmission parties...I am so sick of watching het-only play.
by Russell E. on If I had the choice to go out one night a week, it would be here on a sunday night (the gay night). Music usually makes my night, and the DJ here always makes a great selection (The DJ used to trainwreck EVERY track, but last time I went the transitions were very good). If you know anything about current quality dance music and old classics (think Pete Tong's Radio1 show; i.e. not american over-played sh*t), you will enjoy yourself too. No cover! standard drink I think around $10, although no long islands :( Just have a drink or two with your friends before you head out and it will be a worthwhile and cheap night (most important for poor grad student's ass). Unfortunately I have lab meeting every monday morning at 8:30 am, so can't make it out frequently.
