by Kiersten Kossen on I hit up this joint a couple of months ago as you simply can't avoid hearing about it in rap lyrics and seeing it shot on MTV music videos ( http://www.youtube.com...). Before my visit, I checked out some reviews on The New Yorker magazine and found the photos quite pleasant so ultimately gave it a shot. I avoid all the line selection drama by simply asking for a table to pop some bottles. Saves me time. We cleared the line easily. You end up walking downstairs as it's a basement type setup. We got a table near the dance floor. The decor certainly wasn't as dramatic as the "brochure". The crowd was chill, but the place is so dark you can't really see who is who. The service was good (should be for the table customers), the music advanced the alcohol induced vibes, and I got a chance to meet some cool East Coast folks. Would I go there, again? Yes. Was the place amazing by any stretch of the imagination? No. But who really goes to a club to be awe struck by its furnishings? You go there to check out the people that frequent the joint and the Tenjune brand obviously has pull. Plus if you really don't like it, you can just walk over to another bar nearby since you ARE in the Meatpacking District.
