by Sofia Minges on I must admit that I love a good mash-up. I love the ones that leave me totally floored and thinking to myself, "Oh HELL NO! You did NOT just mix Ozzy with Kelly Clarkson." These DJs did not disappoint me. The cover and coat check are a bit steep. The line outside moves quickly. The location is pretty convenient. Any club in this area is desirable for anyone who has to cross the bridge. You can drive right over, park just about anywhere, and hurry back over the bridge and get home when you're done for the night. I was barely coherent because I just got home from Santa Barbara, stone-cold sober because I drove, and somehow still had a really good time. Though I did have to stave off a few men who tried to manhandle me. Not cool. And to the handsome man in the hat, I am so sorry that the drunk #@$%tard totally cut in between us and tried to hump my leg. Really. I didn't enjoy that. I would like to try dancing with you again. Minus one star because the club smells like ass. Maybe that's why they call it Bootie?
by Gregory S. on I've always found The Cafe a fun place to go and was definitely sad when they closed for their long-ass renovation. But now they're open, and in full glory. Not only are the drinks strong as f*ck but the music is usually pretty good and the crowd even better. Granted, you've really gotta love slutty go-go boys in grass skirts and jocks, but if that gets you going when you're drunk, then you're home. The only thing I'm a little iffy on is the Saturday lesbian nights... I mean, yay for them, but...I ain't eatin' no pussy (and nor do those lezzies want me to) so I'll be staying away on Saturday nights. Also, I'd like to thank the extremely (and I mean EXTREMELY) amazingly nice staff. Last Friday, I had lost my wallet and completely flipped out. (As I think the normal reaction should be). I emailed The Cafe at 3:30am telling them about my lost wallet and begging them to call me if they found it. Well, not more than 10 minutes went by when the Manager himself called me to tell me that they found my wallet! Apparently the PR guy had checked their email just as they were about to head out. I told them I'd be over right away to pick it up! I told them I lived 4 blocks away, when in reality I lived more like 15 (so they would be more inclined to wait) so I had to run like dickens. And let me tell you, running (still buzzed) through the streets of SF at 4am, is a totally crazy workout. Well, the really amazing thing is that not only did they wait for me in the parking lot of the nearby gas station while I sprinted to them, but they even gave me a ride home. I was seriously shocked that there were people THAT nice out there. Sadly I forgot their names, but I just want to say, thank you again! Nice to know that the Cafe is run by good people (unlike some other Castro bars who will go unnamed at this time...). ps. I'd also just like to point out to anyone who goes that their bathroom has been newly renovated (with more stalls and urinals!) and that the metal thing on the left-hand side is a sink, NOT a pissing trough. I recently got to see someone lay their "member" on the sink and piss into it because that's what they thought it was. (And he didn't even wash his hands after that!)
by Rubi Dalsanto on I will give this place one star just for being pretty. Other than that... its terrible! The staff that I came into contact with was rude and unprofessional. On top of that, they were continuously checking up on my lanes to see how many more games we planned on playing, when we were going to start, what lanes where being used, when they were going to be used etc etc. I was asked the same question atleast 5 times by 5 different people: Are you using that other lane? YES! That's why I requested it. I didn't ask for two lanes for my health. Can I get settled in? Would that be okay? Then on top of everything else, they tried to overcharge me. After arguing the first time, they brought it down. I looked over it again, and once again overcharged so they "figured out" the problem and brought the bill down again and STILL I was being overcharged. Mind you, this whole time they were speaking to me with a bad attitude, and even yelling. Seriously? What kind of customer service is that?? In the end, the manager came through and let us leave with the proper bill, but even still, I think the staff thought they were in the right... which honestly is a bit frustrating. Needless to say. I did not have a chance to enjoy the actual bowling. Not only are they overpriced but they also have "house rules" that included the following: No baggy clothes No plain white tees No sleeveless shirts No headwear No chains No ripped or soiled jeans There were about one or two other things on this list, but I forgot what they were. If you go, you can see this sign by the register. My friend actually went with a white t-shirt UNDER a button up shirt (that yes was buttoned up, but not all the way to the very top), had on jeans and dress shoes to go with it. AND THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH HIS WEARING A T-SHIRT. SERIOUSLY????? C'MON
