I was at Royale for the Fedde le Grand show, and this is what I thought... Pros: - The guys working the door were friendly and courteous. - The security staff weren't crazy gestapo wannabes and left you alone (unless you were acting really stupid) - Lots of room on the dance floor. Fedde le Grand's popularity (or lack thereof) in Boston probably has something to do with this -- there would probably be less room at a deadmau5 show. Cons: - Getting your coat after the show from coat check takes forever! And the club was only about 50% full also...I wasn't at the Benny Benassi show, but the coat check line at that event must have been insane. - The ticketing system is odd. Instead of scanning your ticket and letting you in, you have to go to another table where they take your ticket and hand you a different ticket that you can use to get in. Not a very efficient system. - It seemed to me that a large number of the people on the dance floor had never been to an electronic dance music club before. Lots of flailing limbs, swinging articles of clothing and spilled drinks...there's a good chance someone left the club with an eye patch and a soaked shirt. Fedde le Grand always puts on a great set, and all I ask of a club is that they stay out of my way and let me enjoy the music. For this night, Royale succeeded.

I agree with Lester W....if you've already been to the Academy of Sciences, then Nightlife is just ok. Pros: -$10 admission vs. $25 regular admission -No kids -You get to drink alcohol while roaming around -Live DJ Cons: -Lots of people = drink spillage -Planetarium passes run out fast -Rain forest closes at 8pm -Cash only at the bar -Gets very stuffy in the aquarium I wasn't able to get to the Academy until 7:00. When I walked in, they announced that the rain forest would close at 8:00, so we tried to get in line, but it was suuuuuuuuuuper long. They eventually cut the line because there was no way all those people would get in by 8:00. Long lines and big crowds....I don't think I'll be back for another Nightlife. But for $10 its definitely worth it for people who've never been there.
