by Jimmy R. on T. Boyle's is the closest thing Pasadena has to a cool college bar, frequented by a lot of Cal Tech people. I'm from the area but went to college out-of-town, so I have to discover good bars during short trips home. Lucky Baldwin's used to the place, but lately it has seemed to be filled with middle aged people who act all annoyed when you try to stand between them at the bar and order a drink. Boyle's could stand to rotate their taps more and the beer selection isn't as good as Lucky Baldwin's, but the selection is above average, and the prices for bottles are great. They also have trivia on Tuesday nights, which you can't beat. It's a fun place - there's a lot of space, you can be loud, and they have pool, darts, and shuffleboard, which is free. The bartenders are also cool.
by Melissa M. on Duvet is just alright. The novelty of the beds wear off after the 1st hour you're there. Not only are they hard to dance on since you sink into them, but they're probably filthy (I cringe at the thought!). There are 2 bars that I can remember, but not sure if there are more. The beds/VIP area are scattered throughout the club on a higher level than the regular dance floor. The drinks are expensive and the DJ sucked the times I've been (mixing too fast and not playing good music). Crowd is usually mixed and the cover could range anywhere from $15-$30.
