so before coming here last night... i was ready to give Busby's East 2 stars... what changed? well firstly... my friend Kevin C. and i just came from a rateclubs event across the street and we were dressed in our PJs... totally expecting the bouncer to turn us away. But he let us in... AND wished us a good time. Thank you bouncer.. you deserve an extra star and i've been to Busby's numerous times usually on saturday nights... apparently never on a thursday night.. because it was soooo chill there... it wasn't crowded, and i didn't have to watch out for drunken people spilling their drinks on me. there were even free tokens at the pool/game area so we played some arcade games on the house... thanks for the extra entertainment busby's! an extra star there.. i always feel a little uneasy being in a venue where a good majority of the guys never grow out of their wangsta phase and still look the part, and it's comforting knowing that i can come on a thursday to avoid that crowd.

This is the Hot Doug's of burgers. I've been here 5 times in a year, and it had been great every time. There's always something new or something tweaked enough to make it interesting -- for example, the fantastic tuna tartare burger was Vietnamese a few months ago, but now had a soy mango yolk on top. Mushroom burger? Yeah, it's actually great -- plenty of herbs for some great flavors. The sides are great, too. 5-bean salad for something healthy, or anything friend. Heck, anything with smoked mayo is good (still love that since I tried it at Element). Shakes? Pistachio-white truffle is silly bazilly. Chocolate mole was just ok, though. Best part is the price -- you get interesting, unique, tasty food without coming out broke (just like Hot Doug's in Chicago).
