This is a review of the diner side only. Why it is called a diner is beyond me. I guess the fact that they have the layout of a traditional diner makes it easy to give it that name, but the food is anything but diner fare. My only memory of being at this place before was when I enjoyed some delicious pb&j bread pudding.... a long time ago. On this visit the menu came as something of a shock. Mussels, cilantro calamari, blackened fish tacos, asian spiced tuna burger, etc..... I was really in the mood for diner food, not fake fro fro grub in a lounge/diner. No need to visit again for the food, but will probably be back at the lounge at some point.

I was meeting a group of people here for happy hour. I would have walked right pass it if my friend didn't come to meet me. When we got inside my first impression was that it's very dark but with lots of open space, wooden/laminate flooring and very noisy. Nice to know it's already happening. I hate to get into a luke warm bar and being the only group there... It was not crowded at all and we occupied a coffe table with sofa around it. I was given some fish taco which is amazingly yummy. I don't like taco that much but this one they have a nice sauce and with a squeeze of lime it's very tasty. I had a cocktail with pear as I was told. It was very refreshing and I ended up downing 2 of those. I can say it's very light in alcohol though. I heard they played music but couldn't really make out what sort. The room is very nice with high ceiling and all and good ventilation but they lack something to absorb the noise so it's full of chatter and you really have to shout to the person you want to speak to. Well, that makes people shuffle around in order to talk to one another. Maybe this design is intentional for making an opportunity for one to mingle, no?

I wandered in here one afternoon for a drink. The bartender was friendly, all the pool tables were available, and you could choose to sit nearly anywhere in the place on a Wednesday afternoon. I imagine it would get a bit loud if the place was packed, but when empty it was cozy despite being such a huge place. My drinking companion and I snagged a seat upstairs (they have a pool table up one set of stairs, a little loungey area and some tables up a second set, and apparently there is a downstairs too)! It was a bit warm but since we were just there for a beer it was fine. I was informed they serve food here too and maybe next time I'm down in the area and not stuffed from lunch already I'll pop in for a panini and some pool. Well maybe just the panini, I don't want to embarrass myself too much.
