This place is a swing-and-a-miss. You will love your first 15 minutes there. The Victorian furniture, excess mirrors, lavish decor and lighting is akin to a mini-Moulin Rouge. The bartenders and waitressing girls are just beautiful; sensual; delightful. Above all, they are actually polite and charming, a bartending trait somehow lost in LA for the most part. My opinion: Bordello should get rid of their floor show OR put down some damn chairs and tables so that people would not need to stand neck-to-neck hot and sweating to wait 2 hours to have a truly shitty opening band OR raise the damn stage so that everyone could see the sexy burlesque dancers that they paid $13 a piece to see. I mean, how rude is it to the actual performers who get the courage to get up there in only pasties and do their act, that no more than 15 people can actually see them! And to top it off, most of the crowd when combined with body heat, alcohol and an apparent aversion to standing became real jerks. I actually had a guy sneer at me as I tried to get through the crowd to my girlfriend. What the f**k? Find a night when Bordello has the smallest crowd, like a Tuesday perhaps, and then go. Don't bother with Friday or Saturday unless you are the first people there and get a table. The layout of this venue does not support these types of show.

***update*** ok was just at Sugar the other night for a non-drinking night (I know, shocking!!!) and I have to say the music was really bad. Someone has a serious Madonna fetish...now I like a Madonna song here and there... but every song she ever fricking sang?...umm yea no... sorry sugar... two stars less now in my eyes. Get some new music and two stars will be rewarded back to you. I met a girlfriend for a cocktail and some serious girl talk, which for once was easily achieved and didn't leave us hoarse from yelling over the music (how nice!) We ordered 2 apps which were less then memorable but our server was very attentive so that made up for the boring eats. And low and behold they pour a good drink. Not so sure what this place is like later at night??? but I'll give it 4 stars for an after work starter. At the very least go when its cold outside and sit by the amazing fireplace. toasty toasty warm!
