by mike c. on I had a very pleasant experience with a friend here a couple of weeks ago. Upon entering, I was a bit annoyed that the hostess remained on the phone when she saw us, but a server approached us and took us to a table. I was pleasantly suprised when the hostess ended up coming to our table to apologize for not being able to greet us, explaining that a very chatty customer was keeping her on the phone... a classy touch, I thought. Our server brought tastes of wine for us when I wavered between two reds. They have a whole category of wines for 20/bottle, which seems strangely cheap for a restaurant of that caliber. The Spanish red at this price, though, was a great value. My friend was in a carniverous mood, so we pigged out on the Osso Bucco and the Hanger Steak with blue cheese and house fries. Both were excellent, and the steak a good deal at 19 bucks. I like the atmosphere there: vibrant, but more intimate and not as noisy as Two Urban Licks.

Okay, so they are the best continuing band for the last 30 years -- progressive, underground, intelligent, musical little geniuses ... always new... like lightening ...Get into the White Lite! So easy, so fun. To the GAMH: Thank you for staying beautiful and kind... I moved away from SF through [the http://dot.com] period. Wow -- what a change to this city...!! Nasty updated corporate changes everywhere, without art/taste... Such a pretty city/still my home, but what a bunch of whiney little "give me, give me's" moved in while I was gone... still trying to climb out of the souless mess called progress... I smiled when I walked back into your venue... Again, like lightening: past, present, future all in one... beautiful... Thank you!
