I was just there 2 days ago. Purchased my tickets for the show on-line and had to wait in the will call line for an hour before i could pick up my (wasn't even a) ticket and get in. If I were in line with a large group who was willing to reserve bottle service, i would have been allowed to enter immediately. Really??? Yes, the hot hostess made an announcement. Oh, how bizarre... I guess that is a trend, keeping people in line in front of clubs so that they look busy and attract attention. These guys are located in a forsaken alley, they could step on it and get the people in! Really good business will know not to cater to trends but to clientele they have coming in for the night. Not to mention that most of the people in line went and bought drinks in liquor store around the corner and got trashed (quite a few passed out in the club afterward). Bad business. Bad politics. Dear Mezzanine, you do bring some cool shows in, but your management sucks. Majorly.

every bit as good as the reviews let on.  tried it for the first time after reading about restaurants on rateclubs.  was surprised at how highly rated this place was and within a week went there to check it out.  wow!  excellent food, simply excellent.  menu is traditional japanese sushi, there is no fusion or "new" going on here.  not like an mf or nobu, but more of a classic sushi house. the sushi menu itself is very limited.  there are only about 12 rolls on the menu, and none of them are really crazy.  i like sushi restaurants that get really creative but i respect and enjoy places that honor the simple ingredients and serve only the best fish. we tried about 6 things off the specials list, which is separate from the menu.  the special mushroom soup was served in a small tea kettle (for $12)  the chef - Atsushi, "Art", later told us that the mushrooms inside cost 80-100 $$ per pound. the soup was good but the highlight was the grilled grouper head.  it was delish. tried about 12 things total and it was all great.  The chef visits every table and is quite a personality.  the place is small but it wasn't packed on a recent thursday.  this place is def going to get worked into the regular mix. best part - they have mochi for dessert.

A "must see" place if you are in the area. Great assortment of local characters all with stories to tell of local lore & legends. Friendly atmosphere.

I brought some friends here looking for a good place that spun 80s music on a Saturday.  This was the only place advertised for that weekend so we didn't really have any other choices.  It's a biker bar with very little dancing room especially after 2am, so arrive early if you plan on dancing.  Unless you plan on people watching in the background or hanging out on the back patio, you should definitely get there as early as possible.  You'll see an eclectic crowd from all walks of life here.  The back patio however is very nice for a club/bar, probably one of the better ones I've seen in SOMA.  There is a coat check so if you don't want to leave it sitting near the bar, that's a good place to put it while you dance the night away. Note: hit up the ATM before you come here cuz the bar doesn't take cards.  We went on a night called "substance" where they played a fair amount of 80s.  Everything from new wave (new order) to 80s pop (tiffany).  A good mix of people come out, especially once all the other clubs close because they stay open til 7am...yes, you read that right party animals.
