At the mercy of some friend's food recommendations, we cruised into delux on an idle Monday night. I knew it was a burger place from the sign outside, but that thought completely left my mind as we walked in. I didn't expect to see such an upscale looking restaurant. We're talking dark, cool space, with blue back-lit tables. Fancy place, albeit paper, place mats. I wondered for a second, "wait... what do they serve here?" For a moment I felt like the decor would be better suited for slinging expensive sushi. But, nope. Burgers. And the like. While I had my eye on the chicken panini, the server who took note of my first time there made sure to note that they're known for the Delux Burger. Who am I to mess with legend? I ordered it and added a tomato and jalepenos for an extra charge. Beers were ordered (and they've got a good list with 40 of which on tap) and a basket (literally, small shopping cart) of sweet potato fries came out with ketchup and a house made aioli. Burgers can come with a traditional bun or lettuce wrapped. I went with bun. When it arrived I was once again taken back. I assumed it would be any old burger. Perhaps I should have taken cues from the interior design that the burger would, of course, be done up to compliment the motif. It came out in perfectly cut halves, more sub roll than hamburger, I thought. It's cooked medium rare by default (also what they recommend) and it was easily one of the juiciest, best tasting burgers I've had in a long while. You get a little cup of fruit on the side which is essentially like ordering a diet coke with a Big Mac, but still cool. Melon is good. Delux is a pretty cool spot and definitely serves a decent burger. If I had more time in town I'd love to come back. While the burger was awesome, some other things on the menu looked worthwhile as well. One downside is that it can get expensive quickly with the a la cart ordering, beers and upscale burger prices. If you're looking for a burger on a budget, better take ya azz to Burger King.

I was here for Vivian Green's album release party and had the best time ever! The venue has a great sound system and is the perfect size for an intimate performance. The crowd was very classy and well dressed. The bartenders are definitely on the slow side and could be a little friendlier. Drink prices are higher than average. About $12-$14 for a top shelf mixed drink. We didn't try any of the food but what we saw looked and smelled pretty good. I would definitely come back here for Salsa night!
