I gave this place a shot twice, and now I give up. I like the decor, the place is nice enough, the drinks are strong and tasty, as is the food. But the staff is officious. We went outside for a smoke and were told to go thru the side door. Ok. So we walk thru the crowded bar to get out. Have a smoke, then try and re-enter the side door. "That's not our stamp," was what the door officer told me. I said, "Well, I gave that chick ten bucks and this is the stamp she gave me!" He then escorted us to the front door, where there was a slew of other like-stamped peeps. Apparently the front-door officer was completely overwhelmed by having 6 people waiting to get in and told us all to "Back up!" When the two door officers agreed that we had indeed not manufactured some silly stamp to avoid the cover charge for our friend's band, they LED US BACK TO THE SIDE DOOR to go in! Granted, the door officer was very apologetic, but it was too late at that point. Returning to our table, we noticed that the over-eager barback had taken our half drunk drinks. Kissed that $14 good-bye. Needless to say, I can't think of any reason/band/thing that would get me back in that place. Boooooo!

The comedy store is home for me, but the improv isn't terrible. The club is a lot cleaner and obviously corporate, which kind of cheapens the raw comedy vibe for me. There is a 2 "item" minimum, which is cool in a way - you can grab dinner there and be set instead of being forced to get 2 beverages. The restaraunt and bar area is a nice place to hang out, but the staff always seems really pretentious. If you even mention the comedy store or laugh factory, be prepared to hear a speech about how much "smarter" the comedy is at their place than the competition, which is funny when you notice that at least half of their comics are doing the other clubs as well. From when i've been around, there also seems to be more drama attached to this club - where the comedy store will just ban people for a couple months and be done with it. All in all, a good club, and a great place to catch comics, like Nick Swardson, who don't seem to frequent the other clubs in town.
