by Marlin Wikoff on I'll round this place from a 3.5 to a 4, and also keep in mind that I: 1) Didn't buy drinks -- but they seem damn worth whatever they charge if you know what I mean 2) Didn't go down the slide -- common sense for a girl. 3) Had pretty low expectations 4) Didn't pay for cover (show up early and bring yo chicks) Music was surprisingly good when I went -- DJ knew how to mix and transition his hip hop and electro, mashups were done well, and the variety was pretty damn good. Crowd was decently mixed although more on the Asian side, but everyone was down to get down. I had a good time.
by Anne M. on Perhaps I'm getting old. Perhaps I'm an old fuddy duddy. But I would have to say that Temple is just not my scene. Came here for a birthday celebration and I have to admit that without the awesome company I was with I would have been miserable. Upon walking into Temple I was very impressed. I think it's a great looking club for San Francisco. It strives to be the clubs that you see in Vegas though this is much smaller in scale. It's a really nice looking club, I would give it that. How appropriate that my friend chose to make her birthday theme "INDIANA JONES." I thought it was a great idea. How funny that the club turned out to have an "Indiana Jones"- like atmosphere downstairs! They made the downstairs looked like some sort of hidden and lost temple. I don't think my friend expected it since she had never been there before so it was a nice surprise for her. Downstairs is where the music we favored most was playing but HOLY SHIT! It was like a freakin' steam room down there. No ventilation except by the doors where I spent most of my time that night. I wanted to get into the birthday spirit and get drunk and party but because of the heat I felt dizzy most times so it took away from my good time. Then there are the "just turned 21- but I look like I'm 18" crowd that jump around and hopping and yelling in your ear and not caring if they hit you or not. Then the guys trying to pick fights with each other. Maybe it was an off night, but the crowd just didn't seem too mature. And this particular club scene just isn't my scene anymore, I don't think. I just don't find myself having that much of a good time. It was only the people I were with that made the trip there worth while. Don't get me wrong, though - I recommend this place to all the club rats. It's just not for me and I won't be going back unless there was a birthday or bachelorette party that I had to go to.
by Elias Delsoin on A decent place to play pool and have a drink downtown. Minus one star for no air hockey, though. The crowd can be a bit younger than I like on weekends, though. Drinks aren't overly expensive, and pool is fairly reasonable ($10/hr for 2 on weeknights). Foosball, darts, shuffleboard, and several TV's also adorn the lower level. I don't do beer so I can't comment on that selection, but their mixed drinks and booze selection are quite adequate. A good stop for some not-just-drinking-fun when you're on 6th.
