Was here for a work function. About 15 of us, private room upstairs. Just an awesome evening. Our host planned a 6 course dinner, each paired with a glass of wine. Truly spectacular. Great food, great service, wonderfully paired wine and luckily I didn't have to pay. We were all foodies, the wine was pouring free.

With so much potential, I almost feel bad giving Yoshi's one star--but it deserves it. Let me preface, I've been here twice; once to review the restaurant for a magazine I write for, and the other time for drinks and a show. When I reviewed the restaurant, I was impressed with the quality of the food. I did not try any of the sushi, but rather their signature dishes (black cod, dumplings, pork chop, seaweed salad etc.). While the flavors were good, the price coupled with the portions were awful. I later discussed this with other patrons I knew, and they shared similar experiences. I then returned for a show and drinks. Knowing the food was pricey, I decided to eat prior, and just had a beer. Unfortunately, my girlfriend tried the tofu and seaweed, and the others joining us tried the sushi. 1st mistake: the waitress brought 4/5 drinks, realized her mistake, asked who got what, and then brought the last drink ten minutes after bringing the rest. 2nd mistake: the tofu and seaweed was delivered to the table, 40MINS! before the sushi arrived. The tofu was soggy, and for my vegetarian gf, who could only eat this dish--she left all the tofu and picked at the seaweed. In poor form, the waitress had dropped the check off PRIOR to the sushi being delivered, stating we should pay for the food and it would be delivered into the club. Once the sushi arrived, the girls scarfed down the food in a rush to get to the show. I've served at Fleur De Lys, and many fine dining restaurants, and was thoroughly disappointed at how this server approached us, even though it was not her fault. She was not apologetic for our wait, nor understanding to our discomfort, and to top--pressured us to pay the bill as she LOOMED over the check. Just strange. 3rd mistake: to see a show at Yoshi's, you can choose to reserve seating, or come early, get a drink and get a seat. On the website, it states a $15 minimum purchase is necessary. Accordingly, we all had drinks in the lounge prior to the show, ordered sushi, and thought--we had paid our $15. As soon as we entered into the club to our dismay our seats were sub par, located far to the left AND our new waitress informed us we had to buy more drinks! SAVE YOUR MONEY, WERE IN A RECESSION, SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ELSEWHERE. SFCritic
