by Tasia Brenowitz on Terrible service, Mediocre food. took forever to get water and drinks after we were sat. Then, the waitress got my friend's entree order wrong. SHe proceeded to then argue with my friend. After 2 minutes of arguing, she realized she was wrong and started apologizing. It still took 20 minutes for the correct entree to come out and it wasn't even comped. Management could have cared less. Nothing redeeming about this place.
by Rachel G. on I don't know what to say about Zahav - it's pretty much one of my favorite dining experiences in Philadelphia. I've been a few times now, and it's great for couples or for a small group. It's a ton of fun to eat there and try an array of dishes because it's tapas-style. The service is fantastic. I ask for gluten-free options and they cater to all of my needs (cucumber slices with their fantastic turkish hummus made with butter, putting dishes over rice vs bulgar wheat). I asked them to bring my friend a candle in dessert for a birthday celebration, and they dimmed the lights over our table before bringing it over. As for the food, I could go on and on. My favorite is the appetizer - the salad sampler (salatim). It gives you 8 salads to munch on and have fun exploring at the onset of your meal...this can vary from beets to Israeli salad to chick peas to peppers. After that, I would do a hummus of theirs - the turkish is DELISH and rich. After that, it's up to you to order some dishes depending on how hungry you are. Their crispy haloumi - sheeps milk cheese with dates and pine nuts - is OUTSTANDING and has an amazing creamy/sweet fragrance. The sabra and the monsieur merguez is outstanding (young chicken and lamb sausage, respectively). This could be my favorite restaurant in Philly - it is a must. For those of you with food allergies and sensitivities, they're great at accommodating.
by Verla Brading on Come here for the amazing guacamole and the pomegranate margaritas. Everything else is way way overpriced for mexican food. They have maybe 3 decent vegetarian dishes on the menu. I would go for the spinach quesadilla, it is only like $9. Also, the last time we where there we discovered the sangria comes with a mini-pitcher; so it serves a few drinks. I would give it a 3 for food, but a 4 for atmosphere. They have a really hot waterfall with sculptures of cliff divers on it a (you will have to see).
