The only reason I think this place is semi-cool is because it's on a boat.  If it was not on a boat I would not come here. Too loud.  Too many people.  The tables/chairs seemed so ghetto.  It seemed sort of dirty.  We went to this dancing area and there was like nobody there, which I guess is fine, but then the music was so weird bc the "DJ" would play an entire song, and there would be like a 4 second pause before the next song came on, and then later the music stopped working altogether.  Wtf?? Mehhh.

We went here for a "special dinner" a few weeks ago. It was the middle of the week, so the restaurant wasn't very crowded at all, which might have made a big difference in my overall experience. The host was extremely friendly, seated us at a cozy romantic table in the corner and had fantastic recommendations on drinks and dinner. We ended up getting the big "7 tastes" thing they have that is basically like a 5 course meal. I don't eat pork, so they happily substituted the dish that had pork in it with one of their dynamite beef kabobs. Start to finish, it wasn't my favorite food I've ever eaten, but I could taste the thought that went into the flavor combinations of every plate, and nothing at all disappointed. The desserts were playful and adventurous, and honestly probably my favorite part of the whole meal. I really liked the idea of classing up south asian "street food." They did an excellent job taking simple dishes and cleverly interpreting them with high quality ingredients. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, again, I might be biased simply because there were only a few tables there besides us. The clearly took every detail into consideration down to the smallest light fixture. Overally it was really a beautiful, well-planned space. Their menu has a nice range too, they have entrees from I think around $11 up to $40, so it's not really cost-prohibitive.

3 1/2 stars, but i'll round up. Here we have yet another restaurant/lounge/club to open in hollywood. I'll start by saying that apple has an identity crisis - it's not sure if it wants to be a restaurant, lounge, club, or all three, or some of them, or all of them at once?I think this is apparent by the fact that there are 3 different listings for the restaurant/lounge/club on rateclubs, and I wasn't sure which to post this review on! I visited apple [lounge and club parts only] on two different nights (in the same week, too) and had two completely different experiences. First, the restaurant is open every night of the week. Judging from mediocre reviews, and the fact that Chef Ogden (the son of the celebrated Bradley Ogden) had to revamp the menu to make it "more affordable" I don't think their income is coming primarily from the food. So come a certain time, they decide to clear out all the table and chairs from the upstairs dining room, and make room for dancing, the dj, and makeshift (very sad) high-school dance-status lights. The much-talked about (albeit somewhat disappointing) apple lounge sits below the dining room and outdoor patio. This space is extremely small, flaked with tables on both sides. I would say the max capacity is below 200, and it is definitely more of an intimate venue. there's a DJ both in one corner, and opposite it is the bar (which has super strong drinks and are relatively cheap considering it's a new hollywood hot spot; $11 for top shelf uber strong drinks!) Note that the lounge itself is only open on certain days. It was really weird because when I went on a tuesday, the restaurant patio was open, the lounge downstairs was open, and the upstairs space was cleared to make room for dancing party go-ers. According to their website, the lounge is slated to be open only on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. However, when I went on a Saturday, i found a different story. When we arrived, the patio was bustling, so we were heading downstairs to the lounge, BUT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED! They directed us up to the dining room dance space, which was practically empty. My friends and I were a bit shocked, as it was 11:30 on a Saturday night and the place was virtually empty. However, we discovered yet another part of the apple restaurant/lounge/club conglomerate. If you walk through the hallway (where the bathrooms are located) of the dining room, it will take you to the club space of apple, which was supposed to house the pussycat dolls lounge, but now i think they call it "EVE" (cause of apple, get it?) This back-club-space is definitely more of my vibe. There's a raised portion for dancing and bottle service, and the sides are littered with tables and couches for bottles. There is ample room for dancing, with the bar at the far end, and the DJ booth is elevated. There are actual "club lights" in this space, as well as a disco ball. This is more of what you'd expect from any hollywood club, and the best room to be in when it is open (which i think is only friday and saturday). All in all this space wasn't packed, but people flow through from the patio, dining room, and club space. Although Apple is one of hollywood's newcomers, the door isn't too tough. That may be because of the ample space they have between the restaurant, patio, lounge, and back club. Like I stated before, it does suffer from an identity crisis, as they only open certain parts of the venue on a need-base basis (although their website claims otherwise). Reasons why I like it: - $10 valet. Not bad considering parking in WeHo is a nightmare. - Door isn't tough. - Spacious. There's a gorgeous outdoor patio. Indoor underground exclusive lounge. - Dance space upstairs, as well as a club space on weekends. - Good, Strong, and [relatively] cheap drinks (3 top shelf, uber strong drinks, + a red bull = $38) - Hot spot for celebs. -------------------- Bottom Line: Apple is definitely worth checking out. Not sure if i'd ever eat here (their menu is available on the website), but it is a good place to go out, as there are many spaces to the venue. You can chill on the patio, relax in the lounge, or dance in the club. I would stray away from bottle service, as their cheapest bottle is $400, and in my opinion isn't worth it here, because they don't sell many bottles and you can sit at the tables that haven't been sold.
