by Natalia K. on I went here on a Thursday and had an awesome time with my friends. We had an even ratio of 2 guys and 2 girls, but we were dressed well and showed up on the earlier side, so we just asked the bouncer if we could skip the line and were allowed in. The decor inside was really fun, and the dancers in the cages were a really cool addition. The dance floor upstairs really is nonexistent: it's more of a seating area. I would have given this place 4 stars instead of 3 if it wasn't for the ridiculous cover. Even good-looking girls paid $20 to get in on a Thursday. Maybe if the cover is ever dropped for girls, I'd become a regular here.
by Ralph Majercin on this place sucks. ugh, i hate hollywood. my friend corresponded with a guy who works here for 3 weeks to plan her bday party. then at the door, they get SHADY and tell the whole group of 30 that there is no reservation made... UUUUH. i hate you so bad. our group ended up on the rooftop paying $2000+ bucks for those stupid tables. but, its kinda cool that you can go up and down the stairs into different rooms though. each floor has its own demographics... i believe floor 4 is asia~ KRESS! get your stupid ACT TOGETHER!! actually, i don't care if you do. i'm never going back there anyways.
by Raphael Gallop on My friend and I both agreed this place should be called XLI (41) instead of XIV (14) because majority of the people in there was 41 and up so we felt really out of place. The decor fit that age range as well. I enjoy small tastings of food because you can try many dishes rather than one big dish, therefore I liked the concept XIV has. The food was really small for what it was priced at. We didn't order any seafood since my friend is allergic so we ordered the following. 1 - Golden Beet salad with endive, mache, aged gruyere and hazelnuts - this was a tid bit salty but the beets balanced the flavors. 2 - Porcini mushroom risotto - bland and not creamy enough 3 - Jidori chicken, truffled mac and cheese , caramelized onion sauce - like one reviewer described, it was like airplane food. This was our least favorite. 4 - Worchestershire braised short rib, celery root puree, glazed mirepoix - the meat was not as tender as I expected. 5 - Crisp pork belly , pea leaves, orange, salted cashew - this was my favorite. Perfect flavors. 6 - Aged mimolette , apple jelly, chamomile foam, juniper shortbread - this was a nice orange colored cheddar and eating it with the apply jelly was good. 7 - yuzu custard with sweet potato mochi with cola jelly - this was our favorite! very unique. We got there 6:30pm so it was a little slow. The service was good and there were a lot of staff working, probably too much. The highlight of the night was probably when a line of 30 or so sharply dressed and fine looking men walked through the restaurant out to the patio. It was kind of like the bachelorette show with 30 bachelors. You can see all the women - waitresses and all - with big smiles. We asked who they were and they said it was the new NHL players from Canada. LOL. I'll come here probably just for the dessert. The dessert wine was pretty good as well. But overall we had a nice time.
