I've never seen a regular live music event here so I can't speak to that, but their EAW soundsystem is one of the best in town. As far as dance music venues and sound go, I think vanguard has the second best. Playhouse is pretty solid as well, but only for MNS. :) I've played in the upstairs "deck" area several times as well as in the new Honey Lounge portion. Really great smaller sections just in the case the main room isn't working for ya. I just wish the sound was a tenth as good as it is in the main room. Cmon Avalon, round out the package with solid sound in the side rooms. If you need help I've got the guys to do it! See you soon! 13
by Davis D. on During the week, it is a gay club/bar, but on Saturdays, they bring in some awesome electronic dance DJs for everyone's enjoyment. Came here on Saturday to see Gareth Emery (Trance DJ), and was pretty satisfied with the experience overall. It definitely didn't feel too "clubby". It felt much more like a huge dance party, and everyone was just having a good time. They have 4 stages--all of which are pretty roomy. Never did I feel like it was too packed or hot here. If anything, it looked like a huge warehouse with stages and a few comfy couches around so people could relax. The crowd here is VERY diverse. I saw a bunch of older folks, middle-aged party goers, and your typical college kids. Like other reviews said, you have people dressed in drag, goth gear, raver attire, and a bunch of other things here. Everyone here stays out of each other's way--although I did witness a fight almost break out about 10 feet in front of me on the dance floor. They also seem to bring in great electronic DJs on Saturday nights, so if you're into that scene, this place is definitely a place to check out! My only MAJOR complaint about this place is the sound system here. When I go to a dance club, I want the volume loud enough so that I can't hear the person next to me unless they talk directly into my ear. The sound system here just wasn't loud enough and didn't have that extra kick to get me going...hopefully they raise the volume or upgrade their system soon. Overall though, great casual club. Check it out if you're into electronic music on Saturdays, and don't feel like dressing up too much.
