WHAT IS THE SOUTH SIDE SALOON: IT'S ALL NEW NEW AT GRUMPY'S ====> Grumpy's has added a 4,500 Square Foot Sports Bar to their facility replacing the old ballroom area; the Sports Bar called "South Side Saloon" is a hit!! The South Side Saloon is a fun filled and exciting place to meet and greet your friends and family, enjoy some horsd'ouvres and a few beers while watching one of our 7 + TV's including a TEN FOOT PROJECTION TV. The "South Side Saloon" is the largest Sports Bar facility with an integrated entertainment stage south of Stewartville and into Northern Iowa. We have entertainment nearly every weekend including DJs and Live Bands. Four Valley Pool Tables, Darts, Video Games and more!

by Alan R. on New Year's Eve Kiss Event. Extremely quick will call line. No problem with 1/2 price Gold Star tickets. Excellent, friendly staff. Plenty of rooms with varied music. Good crowd. Great neighborhood. Security was EVERYWHERE! Parking garage across the street was easy. Excellent price included open bar. Venue was a bit confusing. The layout of the club is a myriad of rooms and tunnels and patios. Smokers everywhere. There didn't seem to be an area without them!
by Marlon E. on I visited the Mezzanine for the first time last Friday night, when one of my friends (the drummer from Supreme Beings of Leisure) was playing here. Parking around this area can suck sometimes since Club 6 is a block away. Consider yourself lucky if you find a street parking spot around that area, otherwise if you can't find any, or if you don't wanna park in the street, you have to bite the bullet and use the 5th and Mission garage. Fortunately, I was able to get backstage access through my friend, so I didn't have to head to the bar. Instead, there a nice area with plush couches to relax on, as well as 3 little backstage rooms for the bands. I had 2 red cups of sake, and believe me, that was all I needed for the night, haha. The building is vertically spacious, so you don't feel all claustrophobic like at other clubs. The "spaceyness" is what makes the sound set up nice here. You can practically hear and feel every audible frequency, from the rumbling bass to the high trebles. In terms of crowd space, sure you'll take some inadvertent bumps when it gets crowded, but overall, everyone respects your space so you don't get pushed around too much. I'll be looking forward to my next concert here, whenever that is, or perhaps a club night to see how that scene is like.
