Speakeasy Public House The - About Us
In the heart of Snohomish lies The Speakeasy Public House.
With the heart of an old faithful "dive" and the soul of an up-and-coming event-filled classy pub. The Speakeasy Public House reaches out to all with billiards, booze, and rock-n-roll.
Being the new kid on the block has its challenges but it also has its blessings. This means that we are able to redefine the rules for music for this establishment as we see fit. That being said, The Speakeasy is making a solid effort to bring Rockabilly/Psychobilly, Cowpunk, Alt-Country, and all of the subgenres to Snohomish by setting the theme for Friday nights. Saturday nights are, however, open to other styles.

I love this place. I don't even mind the myriad of crazy homeless men you have to walk past to get there. Hell, if you want to feel good about yourself, homeless men love telling you how great your ass is. Sure, they're used to conversing with One-Tooth-Sally but if you can look past that as you side step their urine, you'll walk into the Piano Bar feeling like 50 bucks. Maker's is only $8. Free live music every night. Super chill crowd. And a taco truck outside. I'd sleep here, but apparently that's frowned upon.

I honestly have to say that this is probably one of the nicest bars in midtown, but with that niceness comes a bitchy crowd and overpriced drinks. Thursday nights, in particular, are gay nights, where the clientele tend to be more gay; so these are the nights I will refer to in this review. To be honest, I found Halo a little much to handle. The music is good, and the venue is stunning to behold, but the bartenders are stretched thin, the place gets crowded fast, and I usually find myself just wandering around and eventually out the door. If you can find a place on the couches, you are in luck, because it will totally be your night, but if not, expect pushy queens brushing past you to get to the bar. Overall the crowd is way more posh that I am used to, and there is a ton of money floating around, so if that is your thing, I say jump on board; you will be comfortable here. I find that scene a little TOO pretentious for my blood, and so I usually steer clear. Not to say that I won't stop in a have a drink if you ask nicely...
