Saw John Zorn perform last night at Yoshi's with a group of various musicians including Mike Patton. I think it's a great venue and I like the reserved table option when booking. Unlike other reviewers I didn't have any issues with the staff and actually thought that everyone was rather helpful and accommodating. I do however agree with the other reviewers regarding the food- Boring and bland pretty much sums it up. Have dinner someplace else and just come here for the shows. Great place to see live performances and I'll definitely return-

Harlow Gold on Sunday night was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The drinks were good, the atmosphere was great, and the girls were a-m-a-z-i-n-g. $10 cover at the door for the Sunday night show, and for more dollars you can get a seat. Careful of that first-row splash zone, the ladies like to shimmy off-stage!

Intimate and lively, bOb is a great little nook for true hip-hop heads. Don't let the small space sway you, as it seems to manage all the folks grinding it out on the dance floor (or doing the cabbage patch, which seemed to be the signature throwback move the last time I went). If you truly want to make the most of the space, get there on the earlier side and claim one of the tables as your own and assume the dance floor around it. A good strategy for not feeling jostled as you enjoy all the old Tribe and Biggie in the background. DJ Church was playing requests all night long (although he missed my request for De La Soul...maybe next time!) and even squeezed in some Frankie Beverly and Maze and older throwbacks as well. There is coat check, but a few of the more obnoxious patrons thought that they could skip the $2 fee and just stick their coats on top of us at our table. Manners, kids, manners. Maybe their mom lets them hang their coats on her like a coat rack, but alas, I'm not her. Expect to have to squeeze your way through the pulsating crowd to get to the bathroom or the bar, but if you plan to shake it more than anything else, you shouldn't have a problem. If you are looking for a night of old school hip-hop over the same old Top 40 club bangers, check this place out.
