by Alex C. on I'm not sure, where to put Taverna Plaka, since we don't have half stars. Sooo, I err on the side of caution, and just gave three stars. The ambiance was very exciting! picture people (patrons and belly dancers)dancing on tables, LOUD music, cheers and spontaneous explosions of napkins. CrAzY right!?! Well that was the overall feeling....like you just stepped into some wild party. Unfortunately we were there with coworkers, which prevents my wild side from coming out, but I could clearly see how this place could be fun with the right group on stand by. Now on to the food, this is where caution comes in. We ordered Spanakopita (yummy spinach and phyllo, how can you go wrong) my entree was the traditional Greek Moussaka (think Greek Shepard's pie), his was the salmon, and the group had hummus (which was served with a sliced loaf of bread (maybe its me , but Ive always had hummus with pita.....it just seemed strange, not to have had pita......) and I had the house white wine. The hummus was yummy, but I guess because we were such a large group we didn't get to make it table side.....bummer. The Spanakopita, was very good, and very small. One person ordered it as there entree, and it was sad to see next to the entrees, they should have an entree sized portion, since I'm sure a lot of people order it....but anywhoo. My Moussaka, was decent. I enjoyed it. But the salmon, was dry. And the Kabobs, that a few people ordered were good, but the sad fries looked like a waste of calories. Not appealing in the least. The Gyro plate looked dry, and the person who ordered it confirmed it. All and all I think it was kinda hit or miss. But unlike other places I would go back (probably eat before) and have app's and enjoy the party. OOMPAH!!!!
by Ace G. on You get a feeling of fresh minds when I hung out at this spot about a year ago now... I haven't been back since... but I would if my nitelife schedule permited me... great laid back scene... def a bit of an older young professional crowd... good tunes... only thing bad is the place is very small...
