I probably would have never come to Jillian's had I not been given a reason. The Academy of Art University held their school kick-off party for new students here so naturally I wanted to check it out my fellow peers. The nice thing about Jillian's is that it's a big space with lots of room for big parties. There were quite a few people there but it didn't seem overly crowded. It also has quite a few billiards off to the side which is always a plus in my book (although we didn't play this time). I can imagine a space like this would be perfect for watching sporting events or large happy hour gatherings. Speaking of happy hours, Jillian's doesn't have one. We were there around 5:30 and I was shocked when told that there were no specials. What kind of bar doesn't have a happy hour?! An unpopular one, that's for sure.

Solid burger joint, but try to go during off peak hours. Our wait was about 30 mins at lunchtime on a Friday. The ups: juicy, juicy burger cooked to perfection (had the LA), decent sweet potato fries (your standard, nothing too original, decent portions), and a damn good strawberry shake. Service was also very good, although I'd be curious to see how long it lasts. The downs: just the wait, really. And the price - $7.50 for a burger with nothing else, no options for add on's either. In this country, I think burgers should come with fries, and you should have the right to vote and to add bacon or grilled onions to everything. Next time, I will try one of the spiked shakes...those look yummy.
