Gorgeous venue. Beautiful, enchanting, vintage-y. I had the pleasure of seeing David Gray and Ray LaMontagne here, during this month.. and gladly look forward to the next show here.. whichever it may be. :) Upon walking in, the lobby caught my breath..  high ceilings with an incredible architecture molded into the ceiling..  and spectacular chandeliers hanging mystically from it.  You bet I was snapping away with the camera! I had balcony seats both times, so it's a small trek up a good amount of stairs to get way up there. ;-)  It was good to work off the dinner from the hour before!  Ok, maybe to just work off one of the berries from my sangria, but every little bit counts y'know. :-b The view from the balcony is ok.. but the performer is about the size of very, large ant.  There is no blockage from people's heads, as the theater seats seem to have been designed efficiently well in that sense.  Not much leg room, and I'm 5'4", so if you're a jolly green giant, be prepared to scrunch in tight. The sound in the Orpheum is AWESOME.  Both David Gray and Ray LaMontagne (and Lissie, Ray's opener), sounded better live, than on their recordings, if you can believe that!  The lighting for David Gray was a tad annoying, especially when they'd shine the light straight into your retina, mimicking an experience at the optometrist's office.  Or worse, when the lights would flash on and off into your eyes for about two minutes straight, during the last song, "Please Forgive Me".  Ok, David, I do.  This was no fault of the theater though. Next time, I'd go for orchestra seating (which is what the entire first floor is labeled).  From the lobby, I noticed that even the furthest seats in the orchestra provided a closer-up view of the stage than the balcony.  I was mid/center in the balcony. The staff is super duper friendly.. and even conversational. Overall, I adore this venue.. the lovely red velvety looking curtains, the architecture of the lobby and interior theater were alluring.  They have a bar on the second floor (balcony level).. and some packaged snacks.  Not sure what they served, as I got my drink and food on elsewhere, prior to the show. They sell the T-shirts and other fan "memorabilia" on the lobby floor both before and after the show (and probably during, although I stayed glued to my seat then). Parking is easy peasy.. and if you're driving on Broadway (one way street), it's the opening right before the theater.  It was $10, and seemed pretty safe, organized, and well-lit.

Came here last night with a party of 19 and we had a 2 course meal. It costed each person $30, with tax and gratuity it came out to $35 a person which was very reasonable, plus gave us access to the club afterwards. The appetizer was fried wonton chips with 3 kinds of dips-one sweet, one a bit spicy, and one was herb (i liked the cilantro sauce) As a starter I had the thai vegetarian curry with naan bread (pretty good, a bit sweet), and for the main course I had the tandoori chicken, it came on a sizzling plate with a side of saffron rice, yogurt, and some red bean relish? On the chicken there was tomato slices and yogurt with some cilantro. The chicken itself was a little dry, but still appetizing. The whole meal was very enjoyable, I would definitely recommend coming here for large parties, they accommodated us very well and the atmosphere was nice.

The Majestic Diner is not bad, but not that impressive either. They serve okay food, nothing too spectacular. It should be noted, though, that I am not originally from Atlanta, so I am not taken in with the history of this joint as others (when they remembered from their alcohol-induced hazed, it seems). It's been a while since I went to the place, so I should try it out again - probably during the night, when the action is high enough to spill on to the floor. . . . . Sorry.
