The food is decent, the prices too high, and the ambiance "tired." How many times is this Buddha thing going to be played out before people realize it's sacrilegious? Does anyone play up the Crucifix as decor? $68 for Peking Duck (for 2)? A better meal could have been had in Chinatown, I'm sure. Although the food was well cooked, it certainly wasn't worth it's price point, atmosphere, and service. I had to pour wine for my companions, because our server didn't notice that two of them were almost out of wine. There was also a switch in servers during our meal, but the server(s) failed to mention this, so we were at a "loss" of service for a while. If you want to have an Asian meal, be it Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, whatever, just go to a restaurant that actually specializes in that type of cuisine. This is not the place to "invest" money in a nice meal.

Sugar Cafe is a nice posh spot but the crowd can be rather pretentious. you know how you can stand 'pretentiousness' if people play and look the part, but its even more annoying when its mixed with people who show up to a posh bar/lounge in flannel. the fireplace and seating area is the reason why I'll keep coming back and admittedly the bartenders can be nice.

I hear this is a gay bar, but they must just look like normal people because I have never noticed... ; ) Seriously, though, I loooove this bar. Monday night is dollar drink night.. or is it two dollars now... or is the beer one dollar and the vodka tonics $2. ok, either way, cheap drinks and a college mission crowd make for a wonderful evening. there is a pool table, unisex bathrooms, and an intimate back patio about half the size of Zeitgeist's with a few tables and ample standing room. They play random stuff on the side of an adjacent building late at night that is fun to laugh at with your friends...
