by akshay m. on Before I write anything, I must confess that bobby flay is the reason my TV sets is always tuned to food Network ... That being said I have been waited with bated breath for his burger place to open , though it turns out that so for 1000 other ppl , and that would explain the near 2 hour wait to score a burger @ the palace. While we waited outside the restaurant in serpentine lines , I was reminiscent of waiting in line for a roller coaster ride and the excitement was palpating. Standing in line made me salivate so much so that, My order went from just a burger to begin with, to add fries and as we neared the counter the shakes were added too. One thing that befuddled me was that even though there was ample seating inside the restaurant, dint understand why the lines were soo long. The interiors were plush and more pictures of food items decorate the wall and that sure doesn't help with ur growling hunger. The service was above par too, the hostess made trips to the outside lines talking bout the restaurant etc , and the waitstaff was prompt to get the food and take care of the clientele, though they need a better way of tracking who is sitting where after the order is placed. There are a plethora of options on the type of burger u can choose from to suit ur palate , ur mood and even maybe ur geographical preference , but don't fret too much , each burger would deliver on its promise. I ordered medium rare bobby Bleu burger and thts exactly wht I got, the patty was soft and juicy the bleu cheese wasn't overpowering and the bacon was from another world. I was sad the burger had an ending. I ordered the strawberry shake, maybe next time go for one of those spiked shakes,kalua sounded too tempting. Just a piece of advice have the burger there , cos if u order to-go the bread gets squeezed and iccky and u'd have nightmares of Roland Mcdonald serving u. The sauces need a whole review on their own, each table has five sauces jalapeño,chipotle ketchup, and my fav the burger sauce to name a few. I must say the burger sauce was so perfectly smoked u can taste the wood and that I mean in a good way :) even the sauce with the fries was spicy and scrumptious , though the cut of the fries was a bit small and u'll end up eating bits and pieces of fries before devouring ur own fingers dipped in the sauces. I'd go back to taste all the burgers on the list of which all can be crunchified. He also has burger of the month, so ur burger outing won't be monotonous anymore but an adventure. For ~7$ i would call bobby's burger place the new "Pound for Price" champion, so fasten u fasten ur seatbelts folks as Bobby flay is finally in town. Get ready for a throwdown.
by A. K. on I've been wanting to pay Mix a visit since it opened (pizza place + liquor license = um, heaven?) and went recently for a happy hour with some folks from work. The bartender was attentive and delightful, and mixed us up some delicious peach martinis at agreeable happy hour prices. The slice of buffalo chicken pizza I had hit the spot, and the fries I shared with the table were of a very pleasing texture and taste. The one negative thing I will say is that the bottled beer is, for the most part, overpriced. Seven dollars for Hoegaarden? Really?
