I've been to DNA a dozen times and the long and the short of it is that the venue and space is amazing, but you've gotta find the night/party you like. If you don't this place blows. If you do it will be legendary. Come enough times and you'll agree it's alright. Most of the reviews pick apart the pricing, which I agree is steep compared to smaller (and thus less epic) places nearby. However, I think the fact that you get an amazing state/acts/light show plus all the other dance floor and access to an average of seven bartenders and a lounge in the back -- all which makes for a suitable value. My only real gripe is that sound is less than perfect upstairs and the lounge is abrupt and awkward -- it feels like you're walking into a goth teenager's bedroom, and the bouncers can be aggressive for silly stuff (I got Bogarded for taking a photo on the stairs once) but all in all the place is solid.

Brilliance. Sheer brilliance. Apparently, they're going to stop this event in October. I don't see why they should because I'm sure they're raking in a good allowance. I'm not one that has patience for children. To be honest, I'm not really fond of being around them. The whole concept of enjoying a laid back night out around 21 and up adults without tripping over someone's 2 year old is beautiful! AND it's cheaper than going during regular admission hours??? Could it get any better? I also like the crowd. Yeah, once in awhile you see a random person in full out nightclub gear but they're definitely the odd ones out. Most of the attendees are dressed down. I mean...it is after all the academy of sciences. Plus, it's nice to have random conversations every now and then with a complete stranger who wonders the same thing as you do when you see fish with glow in the dark eyes. Go early. Less people and free tickets to the planetarium. The rainforest doesn't admit people past 7:30 pm. So all the more reason to start early. It is afterall a Thursday night! That way you won't feel like crap when you have to get up at 7 in the morning the next day for work. I've been there twice and I'm sure I'll be there again soon.
