I've been here twice - once a few years back and once just a few days ago. It's a restaurant probably unlike any you've been to before. The decor is a mix of country and quirky. If you are offended by phallic paraphanalia, this might not be the place for you. Be warned, the place is tiny. There are three tables and 5 or 6 bar stools. The wait can be long. The first time I was there was during the summer months. It took about 30 minutes to get seated. There was an extra table though - outside, on the bed of Carmen's truck. The second time, we were seated immediately. The place was pretty empty - it was the day after Thanksgiving and Carmen had just opened back up from being on vacation. The food is awesome and the portions are huge. I ordered french toast both visits. The first time it was served with mixed fruit (kiwis, blueberries, oranges, etc.) and an orange cream cheese. This time, it had prunes, stewed apples, and raisin rum ice cream. The service is attentive but laid-back. Coffee and tea are refilled regularly. Carmen regularly talks to customers, I hear. I assume that it could be annoying to people who just want to eat and have to wait because she's chatting it up with other people. The last time I was there it wasn't a problem since there were only six of us in the restaurant at the time. She seems really nice. She came out and talked to us about her recent travels for a good 10-15 minutes.

I feel a little out of my element when I go here, being the former wannabe-Marina-girl, but I dig this dive. They have happy hour until 9pm, oysters on Fridays, free chips and salsa, pool, Scrabble at the bar, DJ spinning a mixture of oldies but goodies, and a large backyard patio. Ole!

The one thing that keeps myself and countless others coming back is the music. You can always depend on thursdays' RootDown to get your weekend started. The DJs here definitely know how to tear shit up and get the party crackin. Save your soul cuz you won't find any of that top 40 crap up in here (THANK GOD). Old sckool hip hop in the main room, funky house music in the other so you can change it up when you're not feeling one side. The bartenders here kick ass too. They will fix you a REAL drink and serve it up in a REAL glass... no Mary Poppins teaspoons of jack or rum, no Dixie papercup shots either. They make damn sure they give you what you need to to keep you flowin so you can bring your A-game on the dancefloor. So on their behalf, leave a good tip... It might be the only cool place around where its packed inside but no wait on the outside. $10 cover... A good mix of laid back unpretentious urbanites, unlike the scum that ostentatiously prance around the Hollywood scene. I always have a fun time groovin at Little Temple. In fact, I prolly have too much fun here cuz I'm 4 for 4... I've visited 4 times and managed to have gotten myself kicked out 4 times. Yeah, I'm "THAT GUY." But hey, they love me anyways... Oh just be warned not to fall for the Danger Dog trap... bacon-wrapped hot dogs... that lady and her goddam cart gets you guys all the time...
