I've dined at this Maggiano's three times now deciding I wanted to give them a few tries before posting a review. Two of the three times the service has been sub-par to downright terrible. Looking around the restaurant, it appeared that they were very short-staffed. The first time I went with a group of friends (5 total), it took almost 15 minutes after we were seated just to get menus and water. Appetizers we ordered took more than half an hour to arrive at the table, and one of them almost 45 minutes. On another visit (party of 3), our waiter certainly appeared eager to provide a good experience but it appeared he just had too many tables. While the wait between courses wasn't as bad as the first experience, it was still significant and drinks/water went dry for extended periods without refills. The food has been mostly decent, though one order of calamari was way overcooked; entirely inedible. It was re-done (with a significant wait) and the replacement was fine. The handful of "classic" items in the special portion of the menu that give you two entrees for the price of one (one to take home) is a semi-good value, though the quality isn't that high. But, getting two entrees for $12.95, I wouldn't expect it to be either.

Oh, Mezzanine. Where do I begin? First off, let it be know that Mezzanine has amazing sound -- it is hands-down the best place to see an electro-dance-pop-new-wavey-whatever-ya-call-it show, and you want to like, FEEL that bass (while irreversibly damaging your eardrums)! I've never once been able to resist shakin' my thang for hours on end... Memorable ticket stubs including (but not limited to): - LCD Soundsystem (James Murphy - marry me?) - MSTRKRFT (woo!) - Justice (wooHOO! Back in the day - I don't even know if it sold out!) - Datarock (too much booze. Track suits etched into my memory forever though.) - The Presets/Cut Copy (was sore the next day from dancing) - Digitalism (ditto) - Ghostland Observatory (I love my little Texan with braids and killer dance moves!) - Shiny Toy Guns (New Years Eve - fun, from what I recall...) The list could go on... As you can see, I've spent more time getting down at Mezzanine than is probably beneficial for my health (or career, waking up after a late night at Mezzanine mid-week... urgh!). I will say this: don't drive. I had my car broken into at 6th and Mission (big surprise!) during the Presets/Cut Copy show. No bueno. Besides that -- 100% bueno.

Great place for drinks and games, they've got everything from shuffleboard to real billiards. The place has become a Mecca for foosball players recently as well. The bar staff is great, the beers on tap are plentiful, and with an upstairs plus the Orbit Lounge there's plenty of room to stretch. The menu has some unique items on it as well - such as the Buffalo Burger, which is a description of the type of meat more than just a reference to the bar's name.
