by Shadi G. on Nick's Crispy Tacos are just plain yummy. I speak the truth here, and any review that begs to differ is simply way off base. I've been here numerous times. And I am getting in the mood to return quite soon. A definitive fan of Nick's tacos, I advocate going all the way--the Nick Way, that is. What you'll get is a tortilla fried crispy layered with one soft--it's a perfect pairing. Choose the filling that suits your craving, but consider the shrimp tacos. I've had both shrimp and fish, and I've finally decided that the shrimp are the most fabulous. And it really is all about delicious and fabulous, isn't it? And if you can get both in one fell swoop, then all the better. The toppings are fresh and the guacamole tasty. Don't go on Tuesday unless you want to wait in a line. They have a special that night. Or what the heck, go on Taco Tuesday at Nick's. It's worth the wait. And I have an admission: I really like the decor of Nick's. Call me crazy. I don't care. There's just something about a bunch of funky, vintage, non-matching chandeliers that brings a smile to my face. It's unavoidable. Bordello or taqueria? Who cares? As long as the food is good, and the service personable. Yes, on both counts. Nick's is crispy. Nick's is yummy. Nick's is fabulous. Nick's is worth checking out.
by Kim P. on Actual events that occurred at Underbar late last Saturday night: - Paid an arm and a leg for cover, despite guest list perks. - Got there a little before 11pm, realized how early I was. - Waited a half hour for the COAT CHECK. - Met drunk birthday girl Paulina in the bathroom ("I'm 22 mamiiii!"), was introduced to Paulina's boyfriend's cousin, Ricardo. - Got assaulted by Ricardo's chest hair. - Was double-teamed by striped-collared-shirt boys on the awk couch/stage in the middle of the main room. - Saw many drunk Euro chicks sans-bottoms on aforementioned couch/stage (To which I, your always-shameless Kim, actually exclaimed, "Do those girls have MOTHERS?!"). - Had a drunk conversation with one of the bouncers, a tall friendly black fella who, by the end of the night, claimed me as "his wife." - Ridiculed 'roid-raging dudes in Bejeweled t-shirts with fellow rateclubser Noah C. (Yay for elitist rateclubs mockery!) - Had my leg awkwardly molested by an Ostaf (yes, Ostaf!) from Ukraine. - Danced all night to some crazy awesome house/techno/trance spun by a pseudo-famous DJ from NYC. - Had a surprisingly fun time! Something tells me that I will return to Underbar, but only with good company, heavy pregaming, and a cute boy to pay for it all :)
