"Meh, I've had better" is spot on for this place. Went for dinner with two others and we shared the Empanada trio, Tapaendo platter and Garlic fries. For the price, the portions seemed small. Our waitress was inattentive, did not offer us desert and then failed to deliver the cake she described. In closing, the best I can say is... maybe the brunch is better.

My experience at Ajna last week could not have been any more horrible. I entered - or I should say "tried" to enter - the restaurant to join my friends for a 9PM dinner reservation on Friday night. Apparently you need to be on a list at Ajna to even come inside the restaurant for dinner. I was stiff armed by the bouncer at the door and told that my friends' names were not on the "list". As I called them inside I attempted to walk in the first set of doors into the atrium to avoid standing out in the cold. I was again stiff armed and the door was slammed in my face. The "list" guy - or whatever you call him - instructed the bouncer to escort me to the hostess stand, as if I was going to terrorize the place upon my entry. The host told me to wait a few minutes, but I walked straight to my friends' table once I saw them. The table was for two - I was the third - but a nice girl on the adjacent booth said she was happy to move over slightly so that I could join my friends. Within two minutes the manager (who may have been the owner given the absurdity of his bravado) approached the table, clearly ready to excuse me from the table. My friend met him on the way and explained the situation. The manager was not ready to have a dialog. He offered that I could wait by myself at the bar if I wanted to stay inside. He then told my friend that Ajna didn't need our money. Living up to his words, we left the remainder of our drinks and appetizers on the table and walked out of the restaurant. This place reeks of snobbery and a false sense of being a destination within the meatpacking. The truth is that my friend made his reservation for a Friday at 9PM just hours before we arrived. That wouldn't happen in a popular venue in the meatpacking district.
