by Remona Nary on My favorite spot in Atlanta so far to see a show. Bars conveniently on both sides and cheap beer! Reminds of Baltimore a bit, plus a good stage to photograph bands at.
by Lela Vera on I give Cuba 4 stars because I'm Loyal. Because I love the oft-closed Lounge in the back where you can dance your pants off (literally, but you're escorted out by a nice cop soon after), get drinks, and enjoy the more-often-than-not badass DJs. Cuba used to be packed on Friday and Saturday nights, but I guess 4th, 5th, and Colorado have all caught up with cuba and surpassed it in volume business (I will specifically exclude patrons of Vici - they're a different breed I tell you). There is a BADASS happy hour, super cheap drinks with some discounted Apps. The Mojitos (which is what they're known for) are spot on every single time, be they by the glass or the pitcher. You won't come out spending 10 bucks a drink, but it's also not a place for penny pinchers. The food is good, although I have mixed feelings about making this a pre-downtown dinner destination. It seems like a good idea, since you can slowly migrate from your table to the bar as the night progresses, but experience has proved that dinner and binge drinking ought to be two distinct and peripheral activities. So, in summation: Happy Hour, Mojitos, Great Tenders, and good food.
by Jill D. on There were a lot of things I missed about San Francisco when I lived in Hawaii. I honestly don't think I specifically thought about drag shows but for some reason tonight's drag show at The Cinch really brought home a lot of what I missed in Hawaii: tolerance. Here was a bunch of people enjoying Swedish Fish Night and reveling in a totally campy drag show in all it's glory. It was Adam's 23rd birthday at midnight and we orchestrated Anna Conda bringing him up onstage for a birthday shot, sing a long and Juanita Fajita shirt. His beaming face made me so happy as I recalled it's been a year full of changes since his last birthday. Adam went from Butt-Sexin Bunnies to Drag Shows...(tear) he's getting so big! I wore the fabulous Miss V's gorgeous leather and fur coat that made me so friggin' cuddly and adorable that I was garnering compliments for it all night. Even Miss Alexis, the meanest bar back in the city, told me I was gorgeous. And through all this random cartoons and porn played on the TV screens and AK and I were reunited. Sound's like Armageddon or the Apocalypse to you? Oh honey...you have NO idea!
