Previously on Edison Reviews Bars With His Weird Standards: "Republic Live - kickin' a/c prompts you to build snowmen in the DJ booth while you boogie without the heat." "Kung Fu Saloon - you didn't know that the 8bit Bruce Lee mural was there to ward off the douchenozzles of the scene, but fails since let's face it, it's just a mural and not a true shadow demon. Stick to Sundays there for the free games and fewer nozzles." "Treasure Island - Ick." And Dallas, bastion of c/w, is no exception. When I first went to Dallas, it was for salsa dancing on their salsa night. Then, they closed. Then, they opened again, and I went back for the same thing. I'm pretty sure this is the best place in town for the salsa-ing. Big floor, good people to dance with, friendly folks on the way in and out by the door. But I haven't ever gone to Dallas for country anything, so perhaps my rating is skewed. It could suck moose antlers on its 'regular' nights. But if you're going to salsa the night away, it's pretty cool. Starts earlier than most, and you'll get your fill of the salsas, bachatas, cumbias, cha chas, and something that sounds like samba but isn't. You also don't have to park 20 blocks away, because Dallas has a monstrous parking lot. The only downside to Dallas is also part of what gives it its upside - that its location in a junky strip mall area on burnet a few blocks south of Anderson. Good job Dallas! Just make sure the a/c n' fans are crankin when there's more people in there. It's sweaty out there on the smokin' dance floor. Oh yeah. Remember: every night is not latin dance night. The name of the place is "Dallas", after all.

Looks like the next level of dining mixed with entertainment in Atlanta. Hasn't opened yet, but the publicist told me it will be sometime soon. Luckie Food Lounge will have a full menu and will accommodate over 300 people. There will be a lovely rooftop view that I can't help but see every time I drive by here after work. Loving the spin on the name and the street. Being the only place close to the aquarium to get a bite to eat and with the W Hotel and other office locations popping up less than 4 blocks away I think they are in for a mad rush when they open the doors. I guess that's what being Luckie is all about. I will update after I experience the venue first hand, but for now based on the look of the space and the helpfulness of the employees in getting info, I give it 5 stars. Update - 7/18/2007 I came. I saw. I got Lucky. I've been to Lucky twice now, once for dinner and the second time for their Grand opening party on the oh so lucky day 7/7/7. I enjoyed the experience. French onion soup was good and I am now happy I don't have to go all the way to Capital Grille if I want a quick fix of this high calorie concoction. Also had the spinach dip, which these days is becoming a standard starter at Atlanta's trendy night spots. Main course was the Hawaiian rib-eye. Not much of a rib-eye fan because of the fat, but the flavor of this dish made it worth it. Portions were nice and large, so don't expect to leave hungry. Overall this is a superb addition to Atlanta's selection and sorely needed as there are no similar options between Coca-Cola and the Aquarium. Both times I went I think the upstairs, members only section was closed. I don't think it's "complete" yet, but there will be an annual fee to set foot on the skyline surrounded rooftop. Like any new establishment, they need to work out the kinks, but for a newbie I say they are doing quite well. Oh and let me add...I've also been with a group of 30, from my job. Like other folks have mentioned, they sat us in the sushi area since it's a long table in a semi private area. They could have used an extra server and a couple of the plates got mixed up, but everyone was happy in the end. It was a team lunch from work and most of the people hadn't been so it was better than the old standby restaurants like Cheesecake or Houstons. - If you want a glimpse at what the restroom in Nip/Tucks (new season starts soon!) new Cali office might look like, check the ones out at Luckie...modern, interesting, you will probably stay longer than you really need to...
