This is like the IKEA grocery... This is NOT my mainstay for shopping, but more like getting invited to VIP grocery shopping party. Too many decisions for my brain to handle. All I need is a hot man pushing my cart around for me and a George Clooney sighting in here to make it perfect. It's not the prices - as I am happy to pay the "kid tax" markup to shop with less screaming kids. It is too much like deciding what to order off of a TGI Friday's menu by a person in need of Ritalin: ....what to buy.... what to eat ... was that BBQ? ... oh look, fresh mozzarella samples ... did I see Ice Cream samples in the front? ... I never knew they could do that with tofu! .... 10 wine samples in the wine department. If you heard the same play out in my head it goes like this: "blah, blah, blah, cheese, blah, blah, WINE!!!!" Having said all of that - if you are hungry on a weekend and low on cash, you can shamelessly do a "victory lap" of samples in this store and even go back for more without anyone batting an eye lash. By IKEA... I mean: Where the hell is the exit? I'm lost between the seafood and wine and can't swim out. I guess I will go and sample more wines until someone throws me a rope and pulls me to shore.

How anyone could call this place cheesy REALLY makes me wonder what the kids are learning in school these days. Nickodemus and Mariano (the house DJs) are two of the finest I've ever seen live or heard on record...the fusion of breakbeat and latin rhythm is airtight. The space itself is unparalleled...where else could you get the energy of 600 people starving to shake their asses, but still have enough space to get some air and stretch your limbs? The catwalks on the pier are perfect for the people-watcher types, there are multiple bars to accomodate the drinker-types, and the adjacent ship is just incredible--party in the hull, cool off in the galley, build a fort in the sleeping quarters. You really cannot beat this place, it is the DEFINITIVE summer hangout in NYC and one of the few places where you'd be content to spend the night. (Good thing because there are very few other options within walking distance, the only drawback in my opinion.)
