by Colin B. on As anyone who knows me can attest, I have a borderline obsession with The Frying Pan. When I first discovered it, I was so blown away it felt like I was 5 again and in Disneyworld. This is NYC? Really? YES, enjoy it! Perhaps cooler than the initial discovery was the second boat to the left, which had an amazing dance floor and various nooks and crannies to cuddle up into. I mean, Goonies anyone? In addition to being ON THE WATER, ON A BOAT, there's live music, some of the best seasoned fries on this planet and buckets of corona. I pretty much live here over the summer and no other spot in the city can compare. Long live day drinking!
by jay h. on Comparison of two private events I attended at Supperclub. rateclub Elite Event and French Tuesdays. Bar Area rateclub: 2 star....crowded and hectic, slow bar service. FT: 3 stars...crowded, bartenders would end up being both being on one side of the bar neglecting the other side, still fairly quick service though Food: rateclub: 2 stars....food service was slow,cold and bland. Way too long between courses. FT: 3 stars....didn't have dinner but the appetizer's were delicious and they brought out plenty and often. Performances: rateclub: 1 star......The guitarist was decent. The drag Janice Dickinson reject was horrible and confusing. The breakers were good but not special. FT: 4 stars...... The saxophone player was PHENOMENAL. Opera singer was amazing and flawless. The blindfolded acrobat was exciting to watch. Overall I give Supperclub three stars. They have seemed to gotten a little better at managing the group private events. I truly enjoyed myself more the second time around. They opened the doors during dinner to allow overflow into the bottom level. They had the dinner reservations upstairs which made for no traffic issues between drinkers, diners and waiters. Still I would never come here on my own and pay full price for the meal I recieved at the rateclub party. Nor would I pay the half price they offered us (as generous as it was.) The drinks are strong and the music was fun.
