by Sterling Carabez on This is the most, uh... interesting? brunch I'd ever been to, and I mean that in a completely positive way. No, it's not the kind of brunch you bring your hungover girlfriends to wear sundresses and sit, relax and gossip on a patio. This place is a scene, and can be a crazy one. Some champagne brunches seem to frown upon people who overindulge (although they're asking for it), this one encourages the tipsiness and happiness that ensues. Our friends took us here on an SF road trip weekend, knowing how much the group loved bottomless mimosas. We came during Bay to Breakers, so we had no problem getting a table for 7, which I hear is a rarity on any other Sunday morning. It looks like a club or a swanky lounge, splashed with color and bumping the latest pop/club hits. Mimosas or poinsettias (pomegranate/champagne) had me hooked at $7 unlimited refills, and you could switch between either variety. Full bar was available too. The menu was a little limited for brunch. I ordered the Eggs Florentine, which were pretty pricey but about average for a SF restaurant. It's a really fun place. Be prepared to yell to your friends across the table! Our waiter kept the drinks flowing without fail (he was dressed in a cute, skimpy bunny suit, similar to all of the other waitstaff in costumes) and we had a great time for hours. My portion was a little small but the food was fresh and delicious, especially fries that I kept stealing from friends. The restroom line was LONG, but also a good place to make drunken friends, so make sure you go before brunch if you can! The waiter even brought 2 little red velvet cupcakes for the birthday boys we were celebrating. You know you've had a good brunch if you leave, holding hands with your friends and joyfully singing "When the lights.... go down... in the cittttaaaaayyy" while carousing down the street on a bright Sunday morning.
by Andre N. on Went here last night for a Bday celebration ...been there alot of times but seems diffrent ...my friend said were going to "gramercy room" lol didnt know was STRata ..any the promoter sd that we would get in for 8 dolars on the list was ture gave a free bottle of champagne ..was true dj ..was great ...but in all a good night

I had first heard about it in the NY Times, made a mental note to try it out, told someone else I wanted to go there, and promptly forgot to actually do so. So, seven months later, I remembered (ok, actually, my friends brought me here and I later made the connection). This is exactly the sort of club I look for in the city, and rarely find (but maybe I'm just not in the know)--collectively the best dancers I've ever seen in one locale, chill staff (I asked the bartender for a shot that was "strong and delicious;" he did not find this to be an odd request in the slightest, and made a bomb shot to boot), exotic drinks (hibiscus margarita? yes, please), and booty-shakin' music of the not-your-average variety. Love the international vibe. Have visions of meeting a hot, cultured, multilingual man here.
