My review might be biased because my friends threw me a birthday surprise by getting VIP and bottle service, but whatever... it adds to a memorable experience. I was absolutely impressed by how decorative this place was... when you first walk in, Temple definitely portrays its name by having a lot India type decor. Then you walk a little further and it's the "white room" (as I call it.) This is where our table was at... big white couches secluded from the dance floor a few stairs up. Here, they play dance music and there's plenty of room to dance. Then you walk downstairs to the "basement". This was where they play hiphop/rap so this tends to be more crowded and the crowd not so fun. Guys trying to grab at you and when you tell them to stop or walk away they call you a bitch (wtf was that all about) and the girls giving you dirty looks. I'm not quite sure what's with the hip hop/rap crowd but they are just not the type of people I want to hang out with. So I spent a lot of my time at my table/"white room" with the dance music. Another perk to Temple was one of the bartenders was really nice and even hooked it up... Three bars... two main dance floors... Plenty of restrooms (even if the lines are long they are quick) Basically you can throw a birthday party here and have everyone taken care of. =) TIPS: Park in the lot right next to Temple it's $10 (UNHEARD of price especially in the city!) And guestlist online at their website... $5 cover.
by Carlton Angell on This is a love story. Trudy's and I met when I was a freshman at UT. I had a good first impression of this place. It was an late lunch date on a nice Thursday afternoon. The fish taco touched something at the bottom of my heart, but I did not realize it back then. I never really got a chance to know Trudy's better because as a resident on UT campus... I had hundreds of dining dollars I had to spend at school cafeterias. Later I fell in love with Trudy's because of the stuffed avocado with suiza sauce. I was infatuated. I could not get it out of my mind. It was so good that I started taking all my out-of-town friends/family members here at least once during their stays in Austin. Then, Trudy's transformed our relationship to the next level in January of 2006. I remembered that day so well because I turned 21... and I had the first encounter with Mexican Martini and Cuban Martini. I can only say those are the most pleasurable drinks any restaurants can ever make for me. Every time I visit, I discover more things to love about it. During my low-carb period, I learned that their steak fajita salad was of great portion, and with juicy beef strips and crisp vegetable. During top-shelf Tuesdays, Trudy's encourages me to try out luxuries I normally would not dare to try. With the upcoming summer, the additional outdoor seating help reduce the painful longing- the so-called dreadful wait time. Now Trudy's and I have a steady relationship. I graduated from college, got a job, and practically moved in with the North Star location on Burnet and 183 (it takes me 1 minute to get there.) We are really really happy.
