Service - Bartender/server were superb.  Front desk was snooty. Expect a wait. We were quoted a wait time and we waited much longer.  The manager was kind enough to comp our drinks and appetizers.  Bartenders were very nice and even took out time to give me recommendations on other restaurants to try. Reservations - Highly recommended.  The bar is always packed, even later in the evening.  They get lots of business from people staying at the nearby Hotel Palomar. Ambiance - Dark, good lighting, small bar. Food - I love the pairing of flavors.  Everything seems to be quite unique here.  However, I can't say that I walked away craving anything or gushing about the food.  Portions aren't huge but the ingredients are fresh. 1. Fried goat cheese, honey and black pepper - Six fried little round balls of goat cheese mixed with honey and coarse grains of pepper.    Very good, pronounced flavor of the goat cheese was slightly diminished by the sweetness of the honey and the peppery flavor. 2. Grilled flatbread with marinated eggplant and tomato confit - Thick cuts of marinated eggplant topped charred flatbread.  Nice texture and flavor between the soft smoky eggplant and the overly crispy flatbread. 3. Wood-roasted mussels, grana padano broth, roasted lemon - Friends seemed to like it.  Mussels were a bit small. 4. Shrimp, housemade chorizo, garrotxa cheese, celery - Interesting flavors.  I wasn't pleased with the soft textures.  Toppings and pizza crust were both soft and provided a mushy consistency.  Even with the chorizo, it needed more salt/flavor. 5. Rigatoni with roasted mushrooms and housemade lardo - Apparently lardo is like bacon without the fat.  However, the lardo actually looks like just the fat pieces (creme color) with the texture like mushroom ends.   Friend really loved this dish. 6. Chili-braised pork with garlic and homemade pappardelle - Very good.  Pork was so moist that it just fell apart.  Meat wasn't spicy at all.  Pappardelle was cooked perfectly and clearly fresh and homemade.

(i know it's my spring break, but this math teacher just cant help herself) math lesson of the day!* aim: what does a ratio represent? let y = number of ladies granted entrance into the park let x = number of gents granted entrance into the park at the park, the following inequality must be true: y greater than or equal to x. let's divide both sides by x. we are now left with the following inequality: y/x greater than or equal to 1. a ratio is a comparison of 2 quantities. the ratio of y to x is greater than or equal to 1. the ratio ladies to gents must be greater than or equal to 1**. pop quiz!  [a little segue into my lesson on proportions..] if there are 5 gents, how many ladies must be present in his party? a. 0 b. 1 c. 4 d. none of the above. e. all of the above. *if you dont want to sit through a math lesson, skip to this part of the review: **TRANSLATION: there must be at least one lady for each gent to enter this fine establishment.  if you need to call your lady friend who is already inside to come outside and escort you inside, well.. you wouldnt be the first to do so. the inside is huuuuge - the bottom floor has several bars with bar stools, lots of standing room, some couches to lounge on, as well as an outdoor area with trees and tables and benches, oh my!  the upstairs has another bar, a live dj spinning the freshest hip hop, plenty of space for a dance floor, and an outdoor hot tub.  seriously. not sure why specifically, but the asians love and flock to this place. ...myself included :D

It's an Atlanta institution that I was um.. I guess shocked by (friends birthday, and they didn't tell me what is was...since i'd be too um.. fermented to go).. I was the surprised one in the group of 20 or so folks... The music rocked... they love their 80's on Saturday nights.. don't be shy! It was amazing music..and heck, everyone needs to see this place.. no joke... it's surreal.
