Woo! Gay Bars! I have only visited one other gay bar - in SF. Since Atlanta is becoming the new Gay capital of the world it was only appropriate to go to a gay bar. It's sad to see the supply of men turning gay. I'm not sure what we women can do to help stop this trend; more lingerie? More cooking? Cleaning? I don't know what - but the men at this bar were really hot. I'm sad that I couldn't get anyone to buy me a drank. I did get the "you're pretty" compliments which felt great, but not one guy asked for my number!!!! Tear.

good food. free pitcher of margarita on birthday when you buy a few dishes. i especially liked the hibiscus margarita. see also: the coconut shrimp and the plantains with tamarind sauce, they are glorious. no cover if you go there for dinner; at 10 it becomes a little dance hall with awesome music (some nights it's senegalese with electronic drum circle feel at times) but get out of there by 11:45 because it becomes kind of a clusterfuck, unless you particularly enjoy being smooshed in a sweaty crowd. sometimes i do sometimes i don't, i just like to give the warning.

The mark, for me, of a truly great bar is one with enough elevated space for me to dance on should the need arise. And hip-hop music. And strong drinks. Vertigo has all three.
