by Tara M. on I went to this restaurant Friday to celebrate my birthday with friends and family, a group of six. I changed the plans from Tao to this place thinking that it would be as great as Buddha Bar (former owner), boy was I wrong! First of all we get there and order "summer" cocktails ranging from $14-$18, okay fine, a little ridiculous but hey we are in Manhattan..Then we order appetizers, Thai spring rolls (nasty and slimy inside), dumplings with some brownish gray sauce (nasty) and we had fried tiger shrimp which was actually the best thing I consumed all night... Dinner comes my brother ordered the Peking Duck, he said that he enjoyed it but it was extremely gamey to me. I had salmon with no flavor... Me and my brother also split a specialty roll for $19, do not go there if your a real sushi lover, no selection but four specialy rolls and sushi. Then my friend tells them its my birthday so the waiter decides to bring over a platter with four different desserts which showed on the menu as $11 each dessert item. Way to charge $44 for dessert when I just wanted to blow out a candle! They should of atleast asked if we wanted a dessert platter for everyone to share.... So the service was so-so...the food kinda stunk...The decor is definitlely very nice but there are so many places that you can go to in meat packing that has great decor. The music put me to sleep and the got rid of the big buddha! Now its time to pay the bill, tip inlcuded was $732.01! Approximately $245 a couple. Ridiculous! I would not recommend going there! I should of went to Toa or Buddakan...Hope this helps... lol
by Leeanne Nakashima on I didn't really care for the decor. It was intentionally strange from what I could tell, which I have no problem with. It's that it was strange for no reason. The drinks were pretty good. The bartenders know what they're doing and can make you a delightful cocktail.
by Corrina Letterlough on I am not going to make a stupid inuendo like "This is where you end up when you are messed up or the end up is where you will end up" Although the above is true, you just don't need to say it. Chill vibe. Good lookin trannies. If you are a single straight male, it is tough to not get sucked into the trannie world because sometimes its rare for any girls to just come on through. If you are tall do not sit down because then women you think are hot women are in reality men when you stand up after uttering in your head, "That is the hottest Latina I have ever seen." You get up and she is the same height... I'm not gonna lie; I am 6'3 and so was she or he but at that point I didn't even care :( He was pretty hot better than alot of beat chicks in the city. Um the bartenders are always cool here and there really is never a problem getting a drink. The dance floor is always going off. They have a cool outdoor spot to chill away from all of the madness. Good overall late late late night stop.
