by Reginald W. on As a place to get away for a while, stop in for a coffee or tea, shop for some well baked foods, Asian style, or just to sit and read a book or log on to do some cybersurfing this place rates an easy A. The only reason not to give it five stars is that, though service is better than many Asian bakeries it's not as consistently personable as it might be, and no, it can't compare to Alon's (who truly understand coffee) for whom I have reserved fives stars in the bakery category. Also, as with virtually every Asian bakery I've visited, they really don't understand coffee, but then they are a bakery, yeah? White Windmill is truly an asset to the Buford Highway community and an easy five stars for Buford/Doraville. Really deserves 4.5 stars, but.... I can think of few people who would visit for the first time and not be impressed in at least one way or another. Recommended.
by Cat S. on Tuesday night at Triple Crown offers a perfect spot for happy hour with a group of friends. The $2 tacos (with 2 vegetarian options) are satisfying and full of flavor and $3 for a can of Tecate is decent. There are plenty of places to sit/stand with a group and the DJ has played hip/interesting music each time I've been here. This is also the kind of place that reminds me how rampant cliques are in San Francisco. Everyone here seems to come in with a large crowd of hipster friends and the patrons are kind of pushy and rude at the bar. It's a bit intimidating to walk in here alone or settle in with just one other person. Good for fashionable groups, not so much for scrubby singlets.
