I actually took the time to create an account just to write this review and my experience with this club was dread AWFUL. I was looking up some clubs to celebrate my 21st birthday at and decided on this one since it had one of the better reviews for 18+ (since some of my friends were still underage). After my experience, my friends (there were 30-40 of us) and I will avoid this club at ALL COST. We arrived there at 9PM since my promoter told me to get there early. Even then there was a LONG wait and the club didn't even open until 10:30 and the cutoff for the guestlist to pay $10 was at 11PM. Wtf. I swear they did it on purpose just to make money. So I spent an hour stressing trying to at least get my girlfriends in for $10 and thanks to my amazing promoter I was able to but the security there made it such a HUGE hassle in doing so. We finally got in. I go to the bathroom and the moment I step into the bar area to meet my friends, me and like 10 of my friends get escorted out by security and claimed that we were serving alcohol to underaged people. We were all confused because we had not been serving underage people. We asked the security to point out which one of us did serve underage but they couldn't even do that. They even brought two random girls, who we didn't even know, out with us accusing them as being part of our group. Security is WHACK. After an hour though, we were able to get back in for free, thanks to the volunteers outside the club who were giving out free tickets if we voted for education. The music was whack and repeated all night, the celebrity was terrible, and there were random strippers on stage. Worst clubbing experience ever and all of my friends would agree. The girls waited for 2 hours to get in. The guys waited 3 hours to get in (and remember we got there at 9PM...) Not worth the $20 cover and definitely not worth the long wait. Don't waste your time and money here. But if you must attend this club, I suggest you get a promoter and I HIGHLY recommend Tina of RushFriction. She did an amazinggggg job getting me and my gfs in and trying to make sure I had the best birthday possible. It was because of her that I was able to enjoy most of my trip to Highlands and because of her, I gave Highlands two stars instead of the one it really deserves.

Atlanta clubs have a certain reputation. MJQ completely defies it, and I have yet to find another place quite like it in the States. If you're looking for a downright cool venue where you can wear whatever you want, listen to non-mainstream jungle/dnb or hip hop, get away from the fake ID crowd and dance your ass off, this is it. Bar far the best, most understated and underrated club in the city.

Belly dancing, servers prancing, yelling ooopppaa, with flutterring napkins, parties and groups, they dance and move with invisible hoops, hot calamari, juicy lamb, flavorful? yes m'am. fresh hummus crushed at the table, flaming cheese plates, double dates, kabobs of beef, to sink your teeth, into a tasty delight, taverna plaka, for the taste, and the sight.
