Having lived in SoCal for a while, I have gotten very use to eating Mexican food at least twice a week in spite of its high fat content and food-coma induction. And naturally, during our 3-night, 4 days trip to San Francisco, my boyfriend and I were craving for some Mexican food one gloomy afternoon. So we found Nick's Crispy Tacos. Before stepping into the restaurant, we thought it would be one of those tiny taco joints by the beaches in San Diego. But we were wrong. SO WRONG. This place looks like a decked out clubbing venue with at least (I counted) 23 chandeliers in various sizes. And there were these giant hemisphere red couches just like VIP booths at hotels. This is definitely something different from other mexican places I've been to. Very hip (Do people say "hip" anymore?) and trendy, although I don't understand the cheap looking steel tables and chairs scattered around the floor. We didn't know about Nick's way, but the cashier seemed to added it automatically. I had the crispy fish burrito and boyfriend had crispy fish tacos and carnitas tacos. The food was good and in generous size. Every bite I took into the fish burrito was a mouthful of lettuce, crispy-fried fish and sauce. It certainly satisfied my craving. I tried the carnitas one too and it was pretty good. But I'd recommend the burrito more since it's a better value and it's essentially the same thing. I still wonder why the tacos were that expensive, considering that the burrito is much bigger but just a buck or two more than what it costs to get a taco. We gotta give credits to the novelty of Nick's Crispy Tacos. What do people crave when they're wasted?! Mexican food, duh.

i will happily jump on the bandwagon here: the gallery is pretty ghetto. you probably won't get robbed or stabbed, but bring some sunglasses and do some people watching. it's fun. there are a few useful stores here for people who don't drive such as: k-mart (adequate target replacement), burlington coat factory (good for work clothes), and uh... that's all i can think of.
