I was super reluctant to go to Ruby Skye after not digging it too much a few years ago, but we were available to avoid the cover by riding in on the coat tails of a party bus. If you can get in for free to Ruby Skye, check it out -- because it's expensive. Surprisingly expensive for anything in the Tenderloin. Three long islands + tip = $40 expensive. I've got high expectations for electronic music to be fun (Lovefest, DeadMau5/MSTRKRFT shows), so I was -expecting- to be let down... but surprisingly the tunes at Ruby Sky were better than I was expecting / had remembered from two years ago. I gotta give 'em that. The live go-go type dancers were also a neat addition. We had two girls in our group who constantly got hit on by shady lookin' dudes. I mean, I would have stepped in if things got bad, but their discomfort was too funny to interrupt.

I came here for dinner with a friend twice, and I was not disappointed. THe atmosphere is very pub like, but with better red lighting. Then they have a restaurant part which is more cozy. My friend and I split the crab and artichoke dip for an appetizer that came with tortilla chips. We loved it! Then we ordered the On the Rocks sea food special, which came with 3 poached prawns, 3 oysters, 5 mussels, and 3 clams. You need to try this if you come here. It comes with a selection of great dipping sauces! Lastly, we split the seared rare hawaiian ahi with a yukon gold potato coquette. The potato coquette was good, but the ahi was a bit flavor. The 2nd time, my friend and I ordered the tiger citrus prawns with cocktail sauce. AMAZING. We also got the cerviche (lobster, scallops, fish) with tortilla chips and we split the Kobe beef burger. The cerviche was worth it, I usually don't see lobster in a cerviche. THe Kobe burger was really good and had blue cheese and grilled onions on it. The fries it came with was also amazing. I am definitely coming back to Mayes Oyster House for Happy Hour. The 1 dollar oyster special seems amazing! The On the Rocks sea food plate and their other seafood appetizers also makes this place a winner!
