The worst night I have had in SF in 3 years! (If I could give negative stars I would.) My friends and I waited in line for over an hour waiting to get into Harlot. We had 4 very attractive women and 3 guys. When we finally got to the front of the line we realized that they were not letting anyone in from the line we were in, and only letting in people who were on the list. What club has people stand in line for over an hour and does not even bother to tell the people in line that it's guest list only? Harlot. Specifically there is a short bald guy who holds the guest list who is a complete prick on a power trip. Multiple times he yelled that he was not letting in "Lawyers, Scandinavians or French people." After waiting for over an hour, when I politely tried to get his attention he just looked at me and said "it doesn't look good buddy." WTF. After an hour of waiting, we left and went to Temple, which let us right in. During the time we there, we probably saw at least 100 people yell at this guy and storm off. I have never seen a bouncer/host incite so much anger from so many people. I will never go to Harlot again and I'm guessing that most of the people who came to Harlot tonight won't be coming back any time soon either. If you want to have a good night, I would recommend Temple, Eve, 330 Rich or any of the many better clubs in SOMA.

This is my favorite club in the city. I'm not the biggest fan of clubbing, but what makes this place so great is that it's a totally unique experience. Music/Crowd: Most people arrive at around 10:30 ~ 11 PM. At 11, the live band, Smash Up Derby, performs for about half an hour. I LOVE THEM. They're energetic, fun, and they play mashups live! Where else can you go hear a band switch from Joan Jett to Nine Inch Nails during a song? The music is great if you like mashups. Crowd is fun and unpretentious. Sweet! Venue: I've been to Bootie events at Mezzanine (sp?) and DNA lounge. The usual venue for Bootie is DNA lounge. It's kind of grungy and reminds me of a warehouse, but I don't mind. The only thing is that it's always insanely crowded even with the fact that it's a two story building. I liked Mezzanine a lot better just because there was room to breathe. Cover/Bar: Cover is $12 after 10PM and $6 before (it's worth it!). There are 3-4 bars setup at DNA lounge. Unfortunately they are all cash bars, so bring your dinero or else you can use the ATM machine inside (they charge you a transaction fee though). So what are you waiting for. Get your ass over to Bootie now!
