Ok you gotta like 70s and cliche rollout stuff... but hey it was fun, tiny small dance floor but great great 8 piece band... all the old 70s stuff, Earth Wind Fire, Kool and Gang, TOP... it was great to go dance and have people there to just have fun, not cause trouble or be rude... we will go back particularly since we now like the Drake to stay for a weekend.. We're locals but playing in the City is kewl... Views were awesome!

this place has not really decided what it is. when you walk in, the design and the loud music tell you that you entered a night club. looking around at the people with their laptops, you understand they are not clubbing. when you approach the counter with the pastries and coffee machine on it, you guess you're actually in a coffee place. then you raise your eyes to the wall and realize it must be a bar. i can understand how some reviewers found this multiple personality disorder problematic. if you come to do some reading or laptoping, the loud music could be very distractive. if you come to hang out over a couple of drinks, the people equipped with a book or a computer may give you a feeling that you're hanging out at the library. sometimes i like it, sometimes less. as to the food - i only tasted a couple of pastries, which were good. the coffee is good. i had a glass of merlo a couple of times, which was nice. i had to drop a star in my rating for the lack of electric power entries. sugar cafe is (amongst its other identities) an internet cafe, where a trivial need of the common visitor is to be able to plug-in their laptop to a power entry. but about half of the tables on the main floor don't have entries near them, what requires you to keep hunting for another table in case you had to sit by a "powerless" table. i think that arranging more entries is pretty easy. (just a few extension cords...) a very basic need at an internet cafe though - almost as basic as having wireless connectivity...
