I went here once after spending about an hour at Kiss N Fly (Tuesday night). We were meeting a promoter there but as we were walking there (literally like one block away) we met a different pair of promoters so we went in with them. Griffin definitely impressed me. The decor was beautiful and the chandeliers made the venue even more posh. We had a bottle at our not -overly crowded table within five minutes. Good music, cool vibe, can't go wrong.

Dante's Down the Hatch, as others have said, is an Atlanta institution. Whether you're coming into town on a business meeting or you've lived in the ATL all your life, you should definitely take the time to visit Dante's at least once. The ambiance is unmatched by any establishment that I have visited. The employees are friendly and personable; the owner, while a little on the strange side, makes sure that his namesake is taken care of with a watchful eye; and the food is delicious, although a bit on the pricey side. Though a cliche, you really do get what you pay for. The most important thing to be aware of before you plan your visit is that Dante's is not a restaurant that you visit if you're trying to catch a movie afterward. Dante's should be the only event in your datebook for the evening, as it is more than just a restaurant -- it is an experience. Everything seems to slow down when you're sitting at your table. The food is not rushed (obviously, since you're the one that cooks it) and there is a feeling of relaxation in the air from the moment you step in. The smooth jazz that plays on either the stereo or that comes from the live band only adds to that feeling. If you're looking for a relaxing evening, replete with good food, good drinks, good people, and good music, take the time to visit Dante's. You won't be disappointed.

I share a thirst for both science and alcohol; aka - I'm a geek w/ a drinking problem. So for me, and those of you like me, Nightlife at the Academy is as good as it gets. It's f'n brilliant. A few things to consider before you go... 1. Get there early. The lines both inside and out are long and eat up A LOT of time. And the event only runs from 6 - 10pm. If you don't have a membership, you can expect to be at the entrance for at least 30-40 mins. 2. Prefade. Like I said, even the drink lines are long. And if you wanna see all the exhibits, you really don't have time for more than 2 or 3 trips to the bar. Plus, the bartenders are a little light-handed on their pours. 3. Make time for the PLANETARIUM. It'll open your eyes... My Advice: It pays to be a member. It's relatively inexpensive ($99/yr), but that gets you UNLIMITED VISITS for you plus a guest every time. Plus, you don't have to wait in that ridiculously long general admission line.
