I finally went to 1oak, after almost going there countless times. It was on a Sunday around 1:30am. The crowd was fun and the DJ was awesome. I would have given it four stars but for some reason I wasn't too impressed by the decor. After hearing what a "hotspot" this place is I was expecting a bit more....overall I had a great time and would come back to drink and dance.

Decent, not bad . . . I celebrated my Birthday here on a SAT. NITE. We brought in about 60+ people throughout the night. Almost 1/2 of my guests arrived early to grab a bite to eat & avoided the cover charge. If not for this game plan, we would've been a bit disappointed having to pay a cover. The staff was decent, average at best. I doubt the bartender "bought back" any drinks even though we dropped mad loot for the 5-7 hours we were there. They could've used another couple employees for a SATURDAY Night... maybe THAT was it. The layout of the venue is pretty thoughtful, with the bathrooms far enough from the dancefloor & seating/tables to avoid any issues. However, they really ought to add a couple stalls to each bathroom instead of having individual usage. Generally, a myriad of problems ensue once you allow patrons to lock the WC door (use your imagination). It's nice that the bar is far from the dancefloor. This helps create more of a flow throughout the entire space and prevents loud banter from annoying the guests at the tables. I could do without the cable T.V.'s playing throughout the evening. The (two: one of each gender) Bouncers were nice & thoughtful; not a bully-type presence. I wonder if it's always that way; they must have more personnel on other nights, right? The talent showcased here can be amazing (i.e. Osunlade) but maybe a little inconsistent. I'll have to check out some of the names I didn't recognize for further review. On our night, there were two well-known DJ's & two "unknowns" on the bill; to our dismay, only one of the "big names" showed up, resulting in periods of mediocrity. Nevertheless, there were moments when we enjoyed ourselves on the dancefloor. Gotta run... Check back for my update ;-)
